I love love love this album. After about the 5th listen it went to an even higher level. I hear parts of RNDM and Moonlander and Mike stepping it up 10 notches. They all sound fresh and youthful.
It was a long wait in between albums but the fact that all these guys do their own thing and make albums and play with other artists is what keeps them at this level. Amazing!

Agreed! Theres usually a couple songs first time around that don't stand out but a few times listening they are just as good as the rest. Once you start hearing the lyrics to the questionable tracks it, especially when we are talking PJ writing, it makes a massive difference to the song quality, for me anyway.
Sleeping By Myself sounds like a Christmas song to me.

My two cents...album is amazing...really channels a lot of energy from prior albums as well as some new feelings. The boys never fail to impress the fans...again my two cents on each song
1) Getaway 3 stars
a little pop....hear a killers influence?
2) MYM 4 stars
judas priest/STBC to start anyone? heavy heavy love it....pay attention grammy voters
3)My fathers son 1 star
not a huge fan...no continuity
4) Sirens 5 stars
OMG! song of the year or bust
5) Lightning bolt 3 stars
fun to listen too groovy feel to it
6) Infallible 4 stars
belongs with the vitalogy group...amazing
7) Pendulum 5 stars
HAUNTING! again a vitalogy child....goose fuckin bumps...amazing
8) Swallowed whole 3 stars
standard PJ
9) Let the records play 3 stars
Yield? no code? hard to place....70's bluesy?...good song
10) Sleeping by myself 2 stars
upbeat - feelgood - Christmas
11) Yellow moon 3 stars
potential here but falls short - yield? - followup to low light? wannabee big brother?
12) Future days 2 stars
the standard BEAUTIFUL song
I wasn't going to listen to the stream. I broke. Currently at track 5. I have been rocking out for 20 minutes. So far this album is exactly what I had hoped for. Fucking killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really hope they plays a lot of these new tunes on the upcoming tour. The last time I felt this way was Clockwork Angels by Rush. As many new songs as possible would be amazing!
There are two things I've come to learn about pearl jam (personally):
1) Songs on albums, when first listened to, take a while to fully absorb and comprehend. Ultimately, almost always, you need to also hear how they sound live as the band takes them to a whole 'nuther level when live.
2) Each song needs to be listened to in parts as PJ has always been very good with their in-song transitions - often going from slow to fast by the end of the song. Or if not changing pace, changing energy ending with a strong emotional/auditorial crescendo.
Going to be fun to hear these live in Buffalo and Vancouver.
I am impressed. Love the Lightning Bolt, Infallible, Pendulum trio the best, seriously,Pendulum is a real stunner.

RUSH 4 1/2 STARS, SOUNDGARDEN KING ANIMAL 4 1/2 STARS.......PEARL JAM (LIGHTNING BOLT) ?
I was alone at the office today so I could play Lightning Bolt all day.
At first I was scared that this album would suck. I love Pearl Jam, but I disliked Mind your manners.
But then I heard Sirens and I felt in love with it.
This album will never be my favorite. After listening a whole day I must admit it ain't bad at all.
1 - Getaway: 4 stars
2 - Mind your Manners 1 star
3 - My Father's son 2 stars
4 - Sirens 5 stars
5 - Lightning Bolt 3 stars
6 - Infallible: 5 stars
7 - Pendulum: 4 stars
8 - Swallowed Whole: 4 stars
9 - Let the Records play: 2 stars
10 - Sleeping By Myself: 3 stars
11 - Yellow Moon: 4 stars
12 - Future Days: 4 stars
Album overall: 4 stars
Some songs are strong in my opinion. But they lose strength against songs like Mind your Manners and My father's Son. This album has a way different sound compared with Backspacer. I had the same opinion on that album as I have on this one. Some strong songs but with some weaker ones. Although this album has stronger ones (Sirens!), but also in my opinion maybe the worst Pearl Jam song ever... (Yes I really don't like the first single)
This album is great, and the lead up to its release has really gotten me feeling my fanboy roots again. I've been to so many great PJ shows, and eagerly anticipated every single album since Ten. This band just keeps blasting it out. Not really feeling a bad moment on the new album- yeah, I even like the spruced up version of Sleeping by Myself :-P

I pre-ordered the CD from the 10 club on July 11 and when I check my order history it says Warehouse.

Just received my shipping confirmation e-mail from 10c. :(
I have not even recieved that, mine also says warehouse. I'm in Australia meaning it's going to be a while until I get it. Never ever orfering an album from 10C again. It will be in store here tomorrow and I'm waiting like an idiot for it. What was the point. Yeah I can get a digital download but I have to stuff around to get it onto my car etc.
I had tried to keep myself from streaming it from iTunes and wait for the CD to arrive... ehmm. Well, it didn't work. I gave in quite quickly, haha. Listening to the album right now for umpteenth time
Overall I really like this album and I am sure it will be the soundtrack for the rest of year for me. I already really liked the single releases, MYM and Sirens. Apart from those, Infallible and Pendulum are my favorites, also I kinda like Yellow Moon. SBM I could have lived without and Swallowed Whole I am not sure of yet. When I listened to the title track LB for first time, it sounded like a track already heard. Nothing new. But it has started to grow on me. Nice track, but not my favourites.
Great PJ album and I think some tracks will grow a bit in course of time. Sirens is still my selection for best track. Yep. Now. Dude, where's my CD?

I will be waiting for the 10c delivery no doubt, but as tough as that is, it will be over soon enough and then I'll have that lovely alternate 10c packaging to savour.
And I'm not even being sarcastic, I love that shit!
The hard cover BS and ST albums are classy.

Awesome news that we're getting LB in Aus four days before everyone else, but does anyone know why??

Do we still have to wait until the 15th in the US before we Aussies who pre-ordered can access the download of the album in our accounts? It's not available there today but the albums available for purchase in stores, I figured the download would be made available to us today as well.
Terrible bonus digital content for fan club members? That's a paddlin'
