...why would anyone push an agenda and exempt themselves and handout waivers to exempt others?

It appears that the lower-middle class will be forced to deal with premiums or penalties more then anyone else. I think alot of people are going to choose to pay a $400 tax versus a $3,000 - $4,000 policy.

There's also tax credits that will apply for a lot of people that I don't think are factored in the numbers on the graph.

Obamacare has to be funded by participants, and since an ID is required democrats will sue or not play. The end result will be a collapse of the law.

There is so much bear shit in the barley out there ... But the claim subsidies are factored into the graph, so they claim.

It appears the penalties are so low that no one will pay for insurance over the first few years. But by 2017 it appears a 95$ penalty could rise to $600. Still hard to tell if that is enough incentive to get it if you are making under $50K.

I am curious what happens if you don't pay the penalty. They claim it isn't a tax, but the IRS is in charge of collecting

Will they repo your stuff and stick you in the honorary Wesley Snipes jail cell if you can't afford the affordable care act? I don't feel anything has been made crystal clear to us yet.

This act has been in motion for years, yet we don't get clear costs until a week before it is too late to stop the gears in motion.

Just saw on CNN that a worker making $12 an hour will have additional fees of $150 a month to participate in this. What isn't commonly mentioned is that plan will have an annual deductible of $6200.

Who makes $12/hr and has $6200 to waste?

Obamacare will fail or it will be our downfall.

Can't you make the same argument now? At a minimum the ACA helps this guy get coverage for pre-existing conditions. If he can't afford coverage he's in the same boat as he is right now.

If he can't afford it then what's the point? These politicians have got to know that people aren't able to afford this. Are they doing this just to extort another $700 in fees/fines?

I agree that he / she is not in the same boat if he / she can't afford the affordable care act. He / she will now pay out a penatly fee or have the IRS come after him / her.

Why not just make it a law that you can't deny insurance to someone with a pre-existing condition? And go after other issues that make our healthcare cost twice that of most modern nations?

If the GOP or Romney came up with this plan, the left would be up in arms over it ...

uh....this IS the GOP/Romney plan!!! Where you been man??

The individual mandate is what the GOP came up with (and the Heritage Foundation) supported when Hillary was talking about universal care 20 years ago.

You probably also forgot how the far left was pretty upset with Obama over the ACA as they wanted a single payer system. Obama utilizing the individual mandate was supposed to bridge the gap between right and left so that we could make meaningful changes to our healthcare system.

Did that happen? Did the right celebrate that this Dem President used a conservative idea?

No....they pooped their panties and have stood in the way ever since. Why? Because they don't want Obama to get credit for it.

    Because it's not good.

if it was so great why is it know one could tell us what was in it....remember Pelosi saying we had to pass it to find out what was in it...

To the guy trying to say hospitals will not take care of an uninsured person. My son broke bones, slashed his eye open, had serious asthma attacks and the hospital always took care of him. He even had to stay over night when he broke his ankle and slashed his eye open. Afterwards the doctors followed up knowing we had no insurance and had to have an easy payment plan. When he slashed his eye he even had the best ophthalmologist surgeon in North Florida. I think your friend should have tried to find another hospital or doctor.

The Affordable Care Act will soon be known as The Unaffordable Care Act....

So, using your example of your son's medical care without insurance and then having a payment plan afterwards, would having insurance under the ACA have made his care more affordable, or less?

Exactly....now with the pre-existing condition coverage you can sign up for a plan, get treatment, then drop the plan

Actually if it's so good why aren't Pelosi, Obama and every other politician on it?

If you voted for it you should have to participate in it.

Members of the Chicago-based Service Employees International Union Local 1 have gone on strike over recent job cuts by a janitorial company called Professional Maintenance.

The reason for the cuts? The employer says it is because of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. This is ironic since SEIU is a major supporter of the law.
