Generally Portland does not have very good/or any pre-parties.

Most Portland people like to have their own parties.

Nice Hotels Downtown Not in Any Particular Order:

Vintage Plaza (I got married in the wine cellar downstairs so its first on my list)
    Hotel Deluxe
    The Benson (old school nice)
    The Governor (Old school nice)
The Nines (Only 5 Star in Portland I think) New, Swanky, Contemporary
Ace Hotel/Clyde Common - Total Hipster joint
    Hotel Lucia

Thanks. I booked "The Nines" hotels there are cheap compared to back here on the East Coast!

Got reserved for my hometown. Not many places close to the Rose Garden for pre-func but if this place has it's act together, they'll be open before AND after the PJ show. And open earlier than 4:30. It's the closest best place to gather.

For those other individuals in GA, you'll probably not want to stand behind me. If you need to know why, ask RKCNDY. I'm pretty sure she has multiple shots of the back of my melon. I'm also 6'4". ;)

just booked a room at the Crown Plaza, they looked like the nicest hotel in the immediate vicinity of the concert venue. free shuttle to the airport, lounge, and indoor pool and spa! :)
their prices are not bad if you book online, didn't really price a lot of other places since my main objective was to be near the venue in a safe-looking place. hope this helps some people!

    Do IT!!!

There are only 11 rooms. It should fill up.
  • I hope you guys staying right by the Rose Garden just to be within walking distance don't plan on doing anything in Portland besides seeing the show and leaving town. Otherwise you would stay downtown where there are infinitely better dining/drinking/sleeping options and still inside of a 10 minute cab ride, or 10-15 minute light rail ride to the venue. Keep in mind its going to be raining and not warm so how far are you willing to walk in the cold rain anyway?

I like Upright, but what about the people who want cocktails or can't drink a bunch of heavy craft beer?

    This post speaks the truth.

I myself will be in town for a few days and am staying at different places along the way.

Interesting point ... as I will be there for a few extra days (skipping Spokane)

Its just kind of a dead zone around the Rose Garden and I don't think "walking distance" should be the #1 deciding factor for most people on where to stay if they want to check out the city at all.

    Nice places to stay downtown:

    Less expensive downtown options:

Downtown also has a Hilton, Westin and a Marriott in case anyone likes to use SPG or Hilton points. If you have Hilton points, Embassy Suites would be better than the Hilton itself downtown.
