I booked the cavalier inn for $100 including tax. not bad. seems real close to the venue.

Did you read Trip Advisor reviews for that place? I did and that's why I avoided it.

No, what was wrong with it? i can cancel. it's only for one night. I'm not looking for much. Any other cheap suggestions close by?

The Cavalier is fine. I've stayed there and you can't beat the location - practically next to the venue. Saw the Chili Peppers at JPJ. Stopped at the Italian Villa (diner food) for a late night snack while walking back. I think it's a good bet if you want something close and walkable.

Reviews seem mixed. I also have a co-worker who went to UVA and he also said to avoid it, but I've never been there.

I booked the English Inn which as $112 and is a mile from the venue. As long as the weather is decent we can walk or take a cab.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Stayed at the English Inn, too, but a long time ago. That was fine, too, but just not as close...

I live about 2 hours from C-ville so have checked out several places over the years. Got reserved seats for the concert - can't wait!

I saw Bruce and Dave Matthews there last fall and the pit was GA straight back. There were no seats like in the picture. Good news is that they only sold it to about 1/2 full. There was plenty of room to mill around and have space. I kind of hope it's like in the picture since I have GA, but I"m not expecting it.

I wonder if we can specify we want off the floor? Prefer the side seats in the 100s so we aren't behind the people standing in GA.

    exactly.
    asses & elbows ;)

i've sat in the ADA in the 304 section. it's not too shabby. because it's not a huge place.

Yay! I am so humbled and grateful I got these tickets. Best excuse ever to go to Charlottesville in the fall.

Tip to unfamiliar travelers coming from the north: if you're thinking of flying into IAD or DCA and then making a "two hour drive" down 29-South, you will enjoy spectacular scenery. Fly in early, though, and give yourself plenty of time. Getting out of DC/Northern VA past Gainesville can take forever, no matter what time of day, and 29-S will be bad again once you start hitting the lights about 15 miles north of C-ville. Google Maps will lie to you about driving time from points north.
