I got my reserved, I haven't read about anyone getting shut out of Charlottesville. We decided to make a 5 night trip out of it. Looking forward to seeing a part of the country that is new to me.

    Ditto.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Coming from The Peninsula - NN/ Hampton. Have a lot of exp. w/ C-Ville lots of friends and sis went to school there. Great town. No matter where you stay - you won't be too far from the venue, even if you drive from your hotel. If you have to park at the venue they have shuttle's as well if I remember correctly. It isn't a big city. Lots of good restaurants - similar to the Cheese shop in town is Take It Away, Bodo's Bagel's is a local favorite, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is made to order w/ hand cut fries, STick's has Kabob's / hummus, grilled stuff for a good price, The Bellair market on Ivy Rd. is attached to a gas station but don't let that fool you - amazing sandwiches (TOTAL local favorite), Spudnuts donuts, these are all pretty low key casual - many more you can check out at
    http://www.visitcharlottesville.org/visitors/restaurants/?src=ppc_yahoobing_restaurant_officialsite .
Pretty much can't go wrong in C-Ville. Weather in Oct is brilliant!
Lots of us seem to be going on to Charlotte next day - anybody want to form a caravan let me know! Better to travel in groups in my opinion and fun!

Sorry if this was too long.

Now if only they would announce a surprise show at the National..best place in VA, followed by the 930.

    don't forget The Norva. :)

the norva is as good as it gets

The Norva is awesome, saw AIC there in the Spring. The National in Richmond is owned by the same people. In Cville we have The Jefferson, which is smaller at about 750 seating. Gets mostly the same acts as the Norva and National. Love the 930 Club in DC as well. I just am getting kinda old for a mid-week show and having to drive home 2+ hours afterwards...and go to work in the morning.

How deep in DMB territory are we going to be? Like, are sports sandals gonna be mandatory for admission to the venue?

sure hope not. but you can stop and take a picture of Millers, the bar Dave worked at beforeDMB hit it big. Also funny to see out of town DMB fans snapping pictures there.

When I tell people that UVa kids go to football games wearing ties and dresses, people think I'm joking. :fp:

I Got GA for the show!! I cannot express how cool it is to have tickets where I could potentially be UP FRONT. All at a venue 1 hour from home! Can't wait for October!

I know.. I'm from Ohio and when I went to my first UVA game, I was shocked at friggin' sweaters, deck shoes and dresses. It's still bizarre to me and so different than Buckeye games. Oh well. At least you can get in cheap and walk right up to field in the open end zone.

We need to get something organized as we get closer to the date, especially those coming from Richmond and points East. I'm still so thrilled they are coming to little JPJ.

Hoping to get tix, coming from Richmond. My husband advised me to forgo the lottery and get tix through some donor list for the venue that his family is on, so we could get 6 together to go with friends. No word from that list on any presale yet, so I'm regretting not doing 10C tix. We'll be camping at the Gorge this weekend so I have to decide whether to wake up at 7 a.m. to try the Ticketmaster on-sale through 3 bars of cell service...giving up the last hour or so of sleep before the desert heat makes it impossible to nap.

In any case I plan to be there. Just need to figure out how.

I hadn't heard the venue was designed for acoustics but it makes sense. It holds the large-venue spot in Coran Capshaw's Charlottesville music empire. I've seen Phish and NIN there and it's a great room, feels small.

There is a little barbecue restaurant east of Charlottesville in a little town called Gordonsville that I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone with enough time to make a pit stop there. For those coming from points east (Richmond) it is only a few minutes out of the way. For those coming from the North it is a little farther out of the way, but well worth the detour.

Here is the link to the restaurant.

I live about 1 hour west of Charlottesville. Hit me up if you want any more information.
