After some ridiculous moments of thinking there was something wrong with my turntable I realized that this is a 12" 45rpm album.... I didn't even know that existed. Why did they do that?? Only hearing the first song on vinyl right now, but it sounds a tad off... Although it could be my mind playing tricks after hearing it at 33, I don't know. :? But I'm also noticing that it's lacking richness at a usual volume... Have to crank it WAY up for it to sound more full, and even then it kind of has a tinny sound to it. Anyone else feel that the sound on the vinyl is questionable, or did I get a dud? The mp3 sounds better than the wax for me. :(

I haven't listened to my vinyl yet but I'm curious if you got the standard or deluxe vinyl?
    Alright, alright, alright!

Mine too, but I also first played it at 33 and only noticed when Josh started singing  Doesn't sound flat or tinny to me at all. I have the deluxe version... I would like to know too why they decided to do it for 45. Is it just a fancy thing or does it improve the sound or...? Anyway, this is going to get a good spin today.

    45rpm sounds better.

I fully support this statement  Can't think of an album within the last 10 years that would be better than this. I really hope these guys add some northeast tour dates (Boston, NYC, Philly). I need to see them in support of this album a few more times.
    2006: Albany
    2008: MSG I, MSG II, Newark(EV)
    2009: Albany 1-2(EV), Philly 3
    2010: Boston, MSG I
    2013: Buffalo, Brooklyn II, Hartford
    2016: MSG 1, MSG II, Fenway 1

The 180 gram sounds pretty good. Unfortunately alot of "standard" vinyl nowadays is cheaply made and sounds terrible

agreed! this album is incredible. not that i pay attention to award shows but if this album does not get at least nominated for rock album of the year then i don't know what would. i can't stop listening to it

Agreed... it's a fantastic album. As much as I don't care about grammy's, this album deserves at LEAST one.

There are actually quite a few of vinyl releases that are done that way. The last Foo Fighters and Primus records are that way for example. Not sure why that is, but those two albums I mentioned sound great! Haven't heard the new Queens yet on vinyl.

Haven't picked this up, but Minus The Bear's Planet of Ice is a 12" at 45rpm and it sounds fantastic.

Yeah, it is amazing. I just got new neighbors today. They have Michigan plates(Yuppers) and they were cranking country earlier today. Dude was wearing a blue camo shirt, no shit. I cranked this album with all windows and doors open just to let them know what was up in my neighborhood.

Itreally is amazing. It will easily make my top 5 for album of the year. I never loved QOTSA before - they've gained a new fan with this one (and many more, I'm sure).

The dynamics on this album are amazing. Qotsa have always had that kind of mix it up feel, if that makes sense. But this album takes it to a new level. Plus the video is insane.
