I haven't seen PJ in nearly 7 years. It would be nice to plan in advance around my work schedule however I consider this an emergency. Like all emergencies employers will have to understand when you need a day or 2 off. I might have to word it differently instead of a PJ tour.
"I have some friends, and well, they're getting older, and this might be the last time, well" -choke up here- "...well it might be the last time I see them!" -bite knuckle, choke back forced sob, lip quiver

It's not like PJ is really pushing it by not announcing yet. Even if it's an early fall tour that's still 5-6 months off. I've been to alot of shows and I'm pretty sure I've never bought tickets that far in advance.
Aside from that, what kinda nazis you people working for that you have to turn in vacation days 6 months in advance with no wiggle room?

the March 18th post said "with someone you'll all love.... we do" and their website tour page says "Stay Tuned" :corn:

Doesn't apply to me, but the manufacturing plant technicians have to pick their vacation for the next year in December of the previous year. They can leave a few unscheduled, but its tough to do.
So they shouldn't care about the fans trying to plan to see a show? Haha ok
Honestly, I don't think they should care. Sure, they want people there, but I'd say a small percentage of the 15,000 people at a show have to plan 5-6 months in advance to see a concert.
Hopefully the dates work out for you.
I agree with this... first off from a sales point of view, a PJ concert will sell well if they announce the show 6 months out or 1 month out. Plus I have a feeling that a lot of this planning is revolving around the release of the new LP... A lot of moving pieces here.....
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
I can arrange to have time for traveling for shows etc, but I'll be doing field research this fall, and make plans for people to be interviewed...I'm flexible, but the people I need to work with might not be.

I would change 'friends' to 'loved ones'
And hope that whoever you have to request off from doesn't come on this forum.
That aside I think there are a lot of jobs where in order for one person to take off someone else has to cover their work, so it becomes a question of coverage. I know someone who puts in for the year's vacation in January because it ends up being a competition between the whole staff for who can get "the best weeks". I've always thought it was mental, but it seems to be the exception rather than the norm.

Well, I guess that closes any speculation (if there really ever was any) as to who will be opening for PJ for this year's tour.

what pisses me off about pj now, is when I first saw them on tour in 98 and then 2000 and then even in 2003 they would announce shows 6 months in advance, I remember I bought tickets for an October show in march, so what that 7 months apart. now they dick around and wait only like 2 months in advance or something I wonder why? it gonna be may, and they gonna start touring in September? 4 months is not bad I guess, but it be good if they announce it soon, I like to go to a bunch of shows and shit is hard to plan when you don't get much notice, I hope they don't wait till june or something to announce fall dates? they had to announce fuckin voodoo festival though, they said they never play festivals again after Denmark, now it seems like every 2nd or 3rd usa show is a festival, the philly show last year for jay z maybe was the worse of 39 pj shows I been to, the crowd was lame, and the set was nothing special. hopefully they do their own tour, love to see them take even for a few dates at the drive in with them, cedric said he wanted to tour with pearl jam, at the drive in don't play many shows anymore but I bet pj can twist their arm to play atleast 4 or 5 shows
all i want is a show within two fucking hours of my house. This travelling around the US thing is fun but cutting into my bank account.
Live my world. The closest PJ has come to Halifax was once and that was back in 2005. Before & since then, the closest drive to a Pearl Jam show would be to Montreal and that's almost a 12 hour drive? (They also did St. John's, Newfoundland, twice in '05) You gotta pretty much take the flying route to see Pearl Jam in another province / country.
Though I wish we had the power to build a tractor beam big enough that whenever the guy's travel to Europe (back & forth) where they pretty much fly above Nova Scotia every time, that we can pull their plane down into the Halifax International Airport so they can jam or 2.
