oh, are we posting our expedit setups now? i'll have to post that when i get home. i have a 4x4 set sitting atop a 4x2 set (this lower unit not having any vinyl on it since it is withing reach of my cats' claws).
had no idea they sold legs for these. i might have to get myself some.0 -

Mixing and mastering. First off you have the loudness wars where everybody's cranking everything to the hilt, killing all dynamics and adding harshness and that stuff really gets highlighted on vinyl. Then, you have a real shortage of people that are knowledgeable about working with vinyl. Start checking who does the vinyl mastering for your newer vinyl releases and you'll see that there's a name or two that pops up pretty often.
There's every combination of new/old, 180g and up/lightweight vinyl, and good/bad sound in my collection. Maybe that's why I never made the connection that 180g was supposed to be superior sound. The only advantage of 180g vinyl that I can see is resistance to warping.
I try pretty hard to find accurate reviews of about everything I buy unless it's one of a few must own bands(Pearl Jam) or bands that have a good reputation for producing great sounding vinyl(Neil Young, Wilco).0 -

it really is too bad that pearl jam can't also be lumped into the second category you mentioned rather than just the first.0 -

Great call on Wilco. Their vinyl sounds amazing. Also, I got the Analogue Productions pressing of Counting Crows debut disc, sounds ridiculously good. I also have found that my Glen Hansard vinyl sounds terrible. Anyone else find this?0 -

Yeah, I think they have a track here or there that pops, and everything through Riot Act is solid, but I can't imagine how good No Code-Riot Act could sound with a great mastering job. Would take them to another level.0 -

ok, had a serious crisis here, I had my vinyl on the top 2 shelves of a book shelf and the 2nd one crashed and they all came tumbling down, bending lots of corners, fuck me. I took all the vinyl off the top shelf, so it looks like the vinyl on a book shelf is being axed. I will have to make a trip to ikea soon and get this, cause now I have my vinyl on in piles on the floor, while I try to bend back the ones most bent, what a piss off, grrrrrrrr

vinyl is fine, just corners of the covers that got bent, so cosmetic damage, bent and smoothed out what I could, oh well, could have been worse, should have foresaw that.
