For Xmas I got a new turntable with an Ortofon 2M bronze cartridge on it. Lets just say it is a step up from my last player. Also got some new vinyl to play:

    -Raconteurs "Consolers..."
-Gary Clark Jr "Blak and Blu"
    -Allman Bros "Live at Fillmore"
    -Radiohead "Hail to the Thief"
-Justin Townes Earle "Harlem River Blues"

Raconteurs sounds amazing. Jack White never puts out a bad product.

    Soundgarden - King Animal:
Am a bit late picking this up, but they were having %20 off at a local shop so thought I'd grab this even though I was dubious that Soundgarden would be relevant and rocking after all these years. Glad to say I'm pleasantly surprised, really good album! Still think they could have turned the guitars up and gave them that menacing crunch like they used to have, a la Superunknown, but all in all nice record to have.

    The Beatles - Past Masters:
I'm not the biggest fan of The Beatles early pop era, Love Me Do etc...but am totally into the mid-period and psychedelic stages of the band. Plus I just had to have my fave Beatles track on vinyl, The Ballad of John and Yoko, brilliant! I don't think is on any of their studio releases...??

Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses:
This band sounds so good on vinyl!

My sister has our old records and some of my parents in a storage facility. Some of them got ruined in a flood a few years back. The past 2 years she has given he a handful from the collections for Christmas. This year she gave me practically Sinatra's entire collection of albums and some various early to mid 80's rock and pop, Men at Work, Scorpions, The Jacksons, Hall and Oates, Def Leppard Hysteria picture disc and Quiet Riot to name a few.
I also received the new AC/DC live from my wife for Christmas.
    Alright, alright, alright!

I was fortunate to get my first record player for Christmas this year (thank you mum & dad!) so I decided to hit the local charity shops to see if they had any good vinyl, although I wasn't really expecting to find anything. However, on only my first attempt to find something, I was successful! About halfway through the first box of records, I spotted a name I recognised... Brad. Huh, weird, it can't actually be BRAD Brad, can it? But upon further inspection, my suspicions were confirmed - 'S. Gossard'. No way! And only 99p! I was well chuffed and kept looking. In the second box, there it was again - Brad. Unfortunately the same record and £1.99 this time. Still, not bad for a first attempt! Weird to see two of the same record by a band who aren't exactly huge in the same shop though. Anyone know why this might be, or d'you think it was just a coincidence? It was a single... 20th Century I think? Anyway, I've never actually heard any Brad before and I am yet to listen to my record. Can't wait!
