    I think the difference is in their motivations - Shane was very self-centered and wanted Lori and Carl to himself, and saw Rick as maybe a protector of the overall group, but ultimately in the way of his own personal aspirations. Rick's main drive seems to be on keeping his group together and alive for as long as possible, but he does seem to have a much quicker tendency to compromise his own values to do so.

    Shane leading Randy out there was just a ruse, so that he could later be paired up with Rick to go out on a search for him...intending to kill Rick all along. And, Shane broke Randalls neck, never thinking he could be re-animated without being bit. He didn't just leave him out there.

    you guys make great points.

    All i'm suggesting is its interesting the change he has made. Part of me is a little sad about it but it is more realistic. Also someone pointed out the dude he left out for dead he noticed him nod at the crazy guy that was leading the inmates. I did not catch that. If he thought he was in on it all along that makes him just leaving him to die a little more bearable...not much though.

    I really like seeing him change i just hope he does not grow too dark

    So why did he kill the military guys? A power thing? Why else would he? I'm trying to think of other reasons. Is it because Woodbury people may NOT be infected? He knew the military guys were cuz two turned right away. He said something about "we will rise again." Maybe he is trying to keep a non-infected population alive and separated from the others. Any ideas?

    Yes, that was the pilot's head. The young William Shatner is what I called him. He looked just like him.
