this band needs to release boots of each show, like PJ does. There are so many out there, but I have yet to find any of the Winnipeg shows that I've been to!
I'll be getting this one for sure.Gimli 1993

i like the new single, dont love....it sounds very Grand Bounce to me...
a little underwhelmed. doesnt matter....bring on some wintery canadian tour dates!!!!!!
I've got good news for ya. Drip Drip is on the album. It's been renamed "We Want to Be It". Take a listen and you'll notice the line is repeated in the chorus:

I'm diggin' the new single. Very catchy tune with some furious drumming from Mr. Fay, big loud guitars, and Gord's voice sounds great. Reminds me a little bit of "In View", but with better lyrics and a more live-off-the-floor vibe. October 2nd can't get here soon enough. The damn record has been finished since April, and I can't for the life of me figure out why Universal waited this long to put it out. This is why major labels suck. Back in June, Paul was interviewed for some radio station and he said that if the band had their choice, the album would have come out in the summer. But unfortunately it was out of their hands at that point. They should just start their own label and go the indie route from here on out. Plenty of other arena-sized bands are doing it (Pearl Jam, Radiohead, etc..). The Hip are already on an indie label in the U.S. (Rounder), so there's no reason why they can't do it in Canada as well."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

This song sounded awesome in Calgary earlier this summer. The extended instrumental outro is classic Hip. Lots of room for Robby to let loose."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Cant wait for the new album and tour. I do agree that it would be nice for them to change up their setlist more often. How I would love to go to a hip show and they break out " Butts wigglin " Save the planet" or Coconut Cream....ctd0

For summer festival gigs they tend to stick to more of a greatest hits style setlist. For the upcoming world tour I have no doubt that they'll break out some of the rarities. The '09 tour was awesome for that, and I'm hoping the trend continues."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

Goddammit, I want to go down and see one of the American shows so badly, but I just can't do it this year. I don't have the funds and I used up all my vacation time in the summer...Gaaaahhh!!! I've got my fingers crossed for a 2nd leg of U.S. dates in 2013.
Only 14 more sleeps until the new album! I'm surprised it hasn't leaked yet."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. For a good taste of the new album, check out the U.S. iTunes store. They've got 90-second clips of all the songs, which gives you a pretty good indication of how the album sounds. 90 seconds isn't enough to base an opinion on of course, but I fuckin' LOVE what I'm hearing so far. The 3 bonus live tracks sound good as well. Gord's awesome rant at the beginning of Grace, Too from Calgary is one for the ages. I was at that show and his rant went on for a good 2 minutes or so before he kicked into the first verse.

Oh, and for those who care, that's the lovely Sarah Harmer singing background vocals on "The Lookahead". Still can't believe this thing hasn't leaked yet. Leak, dammit. LEAK!"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. I've got the VHS - bought it at a local music store during a lunch break when I was in high school. It's pretty damn good. I think someone mentioned it being available on a youtube channel earlier in the thread.0 -
I'm hoping someone can help me with something...
I used to have a song labeled as "I feel guilt" on a mixed CD. It was from a CBC show The Hip did called "Swinging on a Star" (1992) and they performed with Sarah Craig. That CD got ruined a while ago, and I've had an impossible time tracking down the song. Out of my whole music library, that song is the only thing I'm missing from the things I used to own. It's really frustrating! If anyone has that song, I would be really grateful if I could get my hands on it.
Here's a version of the original artist doing the song - maybe it will jog someone's memory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNdryKjtmqw0
