I think this is the type of album that grows on you. It's solid. The last one before this (We Are the Same)... not so solid. In fact, from my perspective... the shits. But this one- it's good.
Regardless, the Hip are Canadian rock icons that have done it the right way. I support them no matter what. They have done much for me and my listening pleasure. I'll be rocking in the first 5 rows Jan. 20 in Kamloops.

yes, they are a great band. But Gord's same old "microphone stand" rants are getting old live. I've seen them so many times that if I don't care for the new album, I won't be seeing them. I fucking loved In Between Evolution, and I was on the floor for that show. The Lonely End of the Rink was unbelievable live.
edit: yes, WATS was not solid, as you said. And I skipped that tour as well. Which I sort of regretted after, because it was a summer outdoor show in Winnipeg.Gimli 1993

The WATS tour was amazing. They dusted off all kinds of rarities from the back catalogue."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

I know exactly where you're at. I wouldn't be travelling to Vancouver to see them, but in my backyard I've got to! The last time they came here they rocked. It was nice to get out with all the folk instead of my travel partners making the trek to Vancouver or Seattle."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

Just getting back from Cleveland now and that show was epic!! Seen the Hip a dozen times and this setlist blew me frickin' away....very first time getting "50" (if you can believe that!), and that encore alone was worth the price of admission, not to mention getting "Nashville", "Springtime", and "Eldorado"...the new stuff is REALLY growing on me and sounds great live!...talked with Bobby, Paul, and Gordie after the show and thanked them for the great set...for the first show on this leg of the tour, I can honestly say they looked re-energized and left me wanting more, totally blown away by this band's ability to deliver... they're pulling out some gems and left me with that unpredictable feeling like I had in the past when I used to go to Hip shows....no offence, but how refreshing NOT to hear "Blow at High Dough" and know that was the show..if you're on the fence, do yourself a favour and GO!!!'93 Toronto

Got this in my inbox today:
"Hi folks!
Just over a year ago, The Tragically Hip and 25,000 fans descended upon the grounds on Pigeon Lake in Bobcaygeon, ON for a sold-out show and director Andy Keen was there to film the monumental moments. Next week the infamous "Bobcaygeon" documentary will debut at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto. The film documents an inside view to one of the most anticipated events in Canadian music. The film will have very limited screenings in select theatres before the in-store release on BluRay and DVD on November 20th! Check out thehip.com next week for pre-sale information on the BluRay/DVD release.""I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. Anyone want this? I got it when I didn't know any better, so it's got 4 holes in it from push pins. Still, It's not a bad poster - made by Hatch Show Print & got it at the Ottawa show in 1999. I'm not looking for a pile of cash or anything, but I don't really want to pay to ship it anywhere either. Mainly just hoping to give the poster a new home. I'm still keeping my 1996 poster that I'm not ready to let go of just yet. PM me if you're interested - it may take me a few days to get back to you.0

Went to this show last night and have to admit, I was somewhat bummed.....I went early and heard their soundcheck and was really jacked when I heard them play "Lionized" and "Thugs"....then the disappointment hit when the actual show started and I realized that it was the exact same setlist as the show in Cleveland I saw last month during the first show of the tour, with the exception of those 2 songs, and in the same order! Was kind of hoping to hear a few more of the songs off the new one with maybe a few hidden gems, but it was not to be.....and maybe a little more originality considering a 10 day layoff in between shows. Doesn't matter, they still killed it, and made an instant fan out of my friend who was seeing them for the first time.'93 Toronto
