    Not the gun but the person holding the gun, it is their motives for having the gun
    this the root of the problem with guns not guns themselves.

    Yes mental illness is ONE factor in 3-5% of crime, so clearly the way to resolve the issue is to ignore the other factors and the other 95-97% of crimes. People do want to help those living with mental illness. Perhaps that should be addressed on a separate thread.

    Zoso is driving so I'm responding for him :lol: he sort of dedicates his life to this working 2 jobs at 80 hours a week working with autistic kids and homeless adolescents while going to school FT. He said he didn't mean it as an attack on you, but that most workers can't even afford to work once a month per free due to low pay

    your right to be alive is more important than your right to own a gun don't you think?

    plus it's easier to control guns/gun laws than it is to eradicate mental illness and crime.... what you're asking for is the same as asking for world peace and zero famine.... just never gonna happen.

    some people who have a mental illness dont even KNOW they have a mental illness.... how would you solve that?

    Who has saved their own lives just because they had the right to own a gun?

    I don't want easy I want fair and I want to help those who need help
    not turn our backs on them which effects ever aspect of our lives here in the US
    not just gun violence.

    Each shooter lately ...someone knew they had a big problem...

    I would solve that by having families and loved ones not only informed
    but able to seek help and get it for their loved one.

    What works in Scotland will not work here. Same with the other European countries
    and Canada. It won't because of the illegal guns available, the illegal immigrant crime,
    the nonimmigrant crime, the mount of illegal drugs and addicts, the social services
    destruction that is draining our country, the position of our country and what is expected
    monetarily, militarily etc in the world arena.
    I believe your country is less than the size of Maine. To compare our country to yours is ridiculous.
    But perhaps guns could be banned in Maine...
    if all the citizens voted so.
    Even if they did there's illegal guns available for the taking and people understand this
    one of the reasons why they own guns, criminals will always have guns.

    Did you read my other posts? I help people every day. Have for 16 years. Making 1/3 of the pay I could with the same education in another career, so it's pretty much already pro bono;). Not to mention I did 2 years of pro bono work and I volunteer. If you can find time in my schedule to donate more time, please have at it. Let me eat cake pandora :lol: as a clinician I deserve no luxuries
