drug abuse, suicide, mass murder, domestic violence
It is also a factor in people not holding jobs, dropping out of society,
giving their children negative examples to live by.
One would think a caring human being would be inclined to want to help
another human being trapped in a terrible place.
Do we think most kids want to do hard drugs, turn to crime, carry a gun, shoot someone?
Do we think most mass shooters want to kill people or are they driven by hate, revenge
and loss of hope in their own lives? all signs of depression, many suicidal without
anywhere to go before they hurt others or themselves.
Not the gun but the person holding the gun, it is their motives for having the gun
this the root of the problem with guns not guns themselves.0 -

and you dont want your gun laws tighter or stricter but you want to force a doctor to work for free one day a week?
holy fascism batman
At least try to address the cause?
Help people who need help who have none?
I bet that doctor would feel really good at the end of that day...
is that something you can embrace?
can you and your husband afford to work for free to help the homeless? no? well, this is the same premise...
how about you?
Why would you assume no? :fp:0 -

Zoso is driving so I'm responding for himhe sort of dedicates his life to this working 2 jobs at 80 hours a week working with autistic kids and homeless adolescents while going to school FT. He said he didn't mean it as an attack on you, but that most workers can't even afford to work once a month per free due to low pay

is that something you can embrace?
But why would someone not want to eradicate guns and innocent deaths?
your right to be alive is more important than your right to own a gun don't you think?
plus it's easier to control guns/gun laws than it is to eradicate mental illness and crime.... what you're asking for is the same as asking for world peace and zero famine.... just never gonna happen.
some people who have a mental illness dont even KNOW they have a mental illness.... how would you solve that?
Who has saved their own lives just because they had the right to own a gun?
I don't want easy I want fair and I want to help those who need help
not turn our backs on them which effects ever aspect of our lives here in the US
not just gun violence.
Each shooter lately ...someone knew they had a big problem...
ticking time bomb....
I would solve that by having families and loved ones not only informed
but able to seek help and get it for their loved one.
What works in Scotland will not work here. Same with the other European countries
and Canada. It won't because of the illegal guns available, the illegal immigrant crime,
the nonimmigrant crime, the mount of illegal drugs and addicts, the social services
destruction that is draining our country, the position of our country and what is expected
monetarily, militarily etc in the world arena.
I believe your country is less than the size of Maine. To compare our country to yours is ridiculous.
But perhaps guns could be banned in Maine...
if all the citizens voted so.
Even if they did there's illegal guns available for the taking and people understand this
one of the reasons why they own guns, criminals will always have guns.0 -

do you work one full day every week pro bono throughout your career?
really?
One day a week?
How about one day every other week?
Everyone can have less pay, live with less ...
less f'in shoes for sure :fp:
It's called giving to make a difference ... unselfishness to make a change
Of course I would volunteer one day a week to bring people
back from the brink, to help them live a life that is happy and fulfilled,
seems a small thing to give up.
Again can you embrace the happiness from that?
Or is that only found in shoe buying?0 -

So you DON'T give up one day per week of pay from your 'day job' to work for free. You 'would' but you don't.
So don't insult other people by saying...
You mean you would not give that up to save lives
really?

I'm sure most of us here do volunteering work ON TOP of our day job (and other commitments) but one doesn't go bragging about it or insult others without knowing, I guess.Post edited by redrock on0
