In the words of those Asian dudes in Major League......They're still shitty.

I need more than this to think this team has any substance.
I agree there still shitty. But is it coincidence that once a certain player has been back producing ie these last couple games there winning? I think not but maybe thats just me?????

Hamels talks entering "sensitive" phase, whatever that means.

Either way, let's get some good value in return for Blanton, Victorino & Polanco. I'm sure Mr. Stanford will fuck this up.

I think you could get something of value for Blanton if you eat the contract, same with Polanco. Seems like they're holding onto Shane for a king's ransom. I know this sounds crazy, but I wouldn't mind bringing Shane back on a one-year arbitration deal. This slump year might be a good thing for the Phils. I think it helps them keep a decent player like Victorino on the roster next year on a contract with value instead of going out and splurging on someone like Hamilton.

Their biggest trade chip - outside of Hamels, of course - is Pence. That's who they need to move.

Nothing incredibly grounbreaking aside from the offer....

Exec from outside team said heard #Phillies at least floated 6-$140M, Hamels still not said yes, which increases likelihood LH gets traded

Maybe #Phillies trying so hard to keep Hamels tied to Halladay. Scout at Doc's start yest (6R/6IP) said arm strength still not there (cont)

"(Halladay's) stuff not close to what used to be." Said not prime hard, late movement down in zone instead lateral easier to hit

As long as stays healthy, Hamels knows poorly kept industry secret: #Dodgers will play big to bring home to SoCal, maybe make

highest-paid P ever. 1 exec said Hamels so close to potential payday, why not wait, Plus SoCal offers potential off-field star possibilities

If he turns down a 6yr 140 offer then he can go to hell. I know Amaro fucked this up early on,but if he really wants to be here that offer should do it.

No, when you're 3 months away from free agency why the hell not? This is solely Ruben's fault. Apparently jumping the gun and giving Howard a shit load of money is okay, but not doing it for your young ace makes absolute sense to this asshole. Fault lies squarely on the shoulders of management. If Hamels ends up in another uniform I will definitely not boo him.

I don't understand booing guys who have done so much for this franchise. We have TWO championships, and Hamels, Howard & Werth were instrumental in delivering it. These guys all deserve everlasting respect from this fanbase.

I agree that the blame lies with Amaro. It's almost silly for Hamels not to test the market at this point. GODDAMIT.

Agree with all of this. But that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone around here.

If I was hamels I would tell amaro to stuff his offer up his ass. Give me more or I'm gone because you waited too long and I can get more elsewhere.

Who boos howard? Even I wouldn't do that. And I think most of the 'fans' still think he's good so I don't think he gets anything but cheers

Shaping up to be a brutal sports week. Someone needs to cropdust this city with the AIDS vaccine.

And yeah, please trade pence before minaya has a chance to give him cole's money

Even our resident curmudgeon The Fixer had to enjoy a win like that. It had all his favorite elements: Lee getting bailed out, a lucky Pence bloop on a slider way out of the zone scoring the winning run, and a SHUT DOWN 9th for Cinco Ocho.

sorry I don't get excited about meaningless wins vs crap teams. Hopefully these insignificant wins don't prevent minaya from dealing some veteran stiffs this week.

well they may be 10 out and this season may be lost, but god damn it, that was so much fun to see tonight. and last night. vintage phils. :) --having $ on it, gave it some extra juice for me tonight too. hey oh

sadly, depending on what happens in the next few days, that may be the last time we it with this particular core. so i made it a point to get mrs. juggler to savor the moment as much as i did tonight. haha

anyway, i'm all for trading pence, amongst others. seems like most agree here (i'm shocked!). and i think it was jp that said it, but i agree that it might make sense to resign vic considering his bad year and how they'd get him for less because of it. been arguing that point with some dude at work for about a month now actually.

and i've been confident they will end up signing cole all along despite the roller coaster ride most fans have been on with it this year. if they're throwing 6 years, $140m or so at him, he's gotta take it. we shall see. rough year boys.

    aaaaaaaaand BOOM.

contract negotiations tend to come to fruition when a deadline looms people. especially for someone who knows how in-demand he will be in once the season ends. it's been funny watching people freak out over a, seemingly, hourly basis these last 4 months. ha.

congrats to cole. good job ruben (as unpopular with most fans as that is to say right now).
