    big win last night

    nice matchups going into boston

Kuroda...hughes ...garcia and nova ( Garcia is iffy :? )

    sunday is Nova vs Lester

Ugh, Garcia against Boston is never pretty. Good hitters can wait for his pitches to hit. Those line drives that were going for outs against Tampa the other day would be putting dents in that dumb wall.

Yeah, read yesterday they can carry 26 players for Saturday with the schedule, so they can keep McDonald and Phelps up, I think. I'd have to imagine you're right, just wonder how many pitches they would let Phelps go on 2 days rest.

Just curious what you mean by this. I think I've seen you say this before too.

And Yeah, Cano is the fucking man.
But whats up with Russel Martin? its as bad as having a pitcher in the NL come to bat.

The only thing I like to rip about the Yankees is the $50 Mil they are spending this year on Tex/Arod hitting about .250's combined.

I guess its becoming more of a pitchers game lately.

Just that every single game matters so much and is such a big deal and that if a team goes on a bad stretch, they suck. It's just not right in baseball. The last 15 game stretch has been quoted a few times recently so to put that in context, that would be about a game and a half in the NFL. So to say the Yankees suck over a 15 game period and resting the outcome of the season on it is essentially pointless. It's like saying the Giants suck if they don't play well for 6 quarters.. Especially since they it's not like they have lost much of a lead or anything. Hot and cold stretches. 162 games.

And I get the argument that if a team misses the playoffs by 1 game then every single game they lost and should have won could be cited, but the fact is, every team has those. It's a 162 game season.

Terrible year for Martin at the plate. I know they like his defense but it will be really interesting to see what they do next year if he keeps this up at the place.

Arod contract blows. Terrible. No two ways about it. That was in a weird time of the Yankees though when Hank and Levine had a lot of the power for a little while.

Ahh, I see what you're saying. I'd say that everything has a better chance of leveling off in a 162 game season, and there will be more steaks and low points obviously. Now a good question is, since Tex always starts slow, how will he end up? and how will the yanks deal with this pitching situation? We got a ways to go...should be interesting.

Perfectly happy to admit when I am wrong. Never been a problem. Didn't like Ibanez after last season, he has fortunately proved me wrong. Pineda and Hughes I have said I was wrong about many many times. We have to wait and see about Pineda though, Montero isn't exactly tearing it up. Not sure how I was wrong about anything about Nova (Edit: I guess the K rate, I still don't see that lasting though, hes just not that type of pitcher and there is nothing wrong with that as long as he can keep the ball down), he was absolutely brutal. All this is fine and you aren't really proving anything.

How about going back and finding how many times I said they should have brought Kuroda here over the past 2 years? I am right about some, wrong about others. All about the track record.

And hell, I could be wrong and this team could collapse and not make the playoffs, I don't see it but it could happen. And you know what? I will have enjoyed the season and had a good time watching and talking baseball while others will just have bitched and complained like spoiled 4 year olds the whole time and annoyed everyone here (which I have contributed to until today).

Relentlessly ripping a team who is essentially tied for the best record in baseball is just plain dumb to me and annoying. Ripping the best player on the team, by far, after he just won the game is idiotic. That's all. The game is supposed to be enjoyed, win or lose. "We" are fans of the most successful team in the history of the game. Whether they win or lose this year, or win or lose next year, we are going to see more championships in our lifetimes than fans of any other team. So if they fall out of first place in July, or lose a few games where they don't hit a home run, I am not going to bitch and cry about it for a week straight and get worked up about it. This team has solid management and the resources to be competitive for a very long time. Management is not "new money" like the Phillies, they know what they are doing and will keep this team good. So bitching about an issue half way into the season when the team is tied for the least number of losses in the game just doesn't make sense to me.

All about getting to the playoffs hot. All it is.

    Ahh...that's funny

The Montero-Pineda trade is looking pretty amusing right now. Pineda is obviously hurt, Campos was hurt, not sure where that stands now, Noesi was just sent down to the minors after an ERA of almost 6 and Montero is batting under .250, not getting on base and only has one more home run than Jeter.

Montero is obviously the surest bet of them all, just not looking good for anyone right now.

There's no reason to pitch to Montero in that lineup

True, that lineup blows. But he should at least be walking then. He's bringing a whole lot of nothing to them right now.

Still definitely the surest bet of the 4

Absolutely insane article on Kuroda and what he went through as a kid playing baseball. I couldn't be more happy that the Yanks signed Kuroda. I said it before and I will keep saying it, he seems like an awesome guy and exactly what you want on your team. The article is pretty sad though.

    Kurorda vs Beckett
    Hughes vs Morales
    Garcia vs Doubront
    Nova vs Lester

Feel pretty good about these matchups outside of Garcias start hopefully we can lay the hammer down and sweep those bitches and end their season.

Would be pretty sweet. And the whole division is playing pretty terrible right now, so no one has really gained any ground on the Yankees over the past week.

This weekend should be fun, not sure how much of it I am going to see though.
