But I wonder if that big contract and being in NY made him come out and throw just a tiny bit harder, leading to this injury...or maybe it was just destined to happen? Either way, I hope he comes back strong-- he's been fun to watch.

i saw some stat that said tanaka has thrown the 4th most pitchers (including minors and overseas) ever for someone his age.

Most pitchers don't lose their stuff after tommy john. It's the lost time that sucks. That said, I think it's a safe bet that he won't be as good as he was in the first half. That would be pretty tough. He had a 1.99 era for a minute
