Yep, the band wants to make money and make an honest living making and playing music. Novel concept!

On one hand... hooray PJ in Philly! Thought I wasn't going to get to see them this year.
On the other hand... mreh. Who'da thunk there'd be a day where I would consider not bothering with a local show. I have two rules: See every show I can in the Pittsburgh area, and see every show I can in the Philly area. I skipped the opening gig for the Stones at PNC Park a few yrs back b/c it wasn't worth the price or the drive to see an abbreviated show. I'm really not enthused about all the rest of the nonsense in this lineup for an abbreviated PJ show this time around.

IMHO, Pj opening up for the Stones = 50 minute set. Pearl Jam headlining a festival= 2-2.5 hour set. No comparison. Additionally, the full line-up hasn't been announced. Jay-Z is a smart business man and PJ inc. knows what their fans expect. I highly doubt Pearl Jam will be the only rock band performing.

I like festivals because it forces me to open my eyes to other types of music I'm not really into. You should consider it... You never know what you might discover. But hey if this turns people off then it just means a few more inches of wiggle room I'll have.

I already see 4 other artists on that list that I would want to see. its great having a diverse musical taste .

Agree. Pearl Jam, Jay-Z, Miike Snow. Santigold is different with a cool sound and if anything those kids in Odd Future put on quite the lively show. Skillrex could be a lot of fun in a live setting.
It would be great to see Gaslight Anthem, The Head and The Heart, Childish Gambino, Cage The Elephant & Manchester Orchestra added to something like this. I'd love it if the original rumor of the Foo Fighters playing this turned out to be true. A mix of music is always fun.
R&B, Rap & Dance with it's only rock band Pearl Jam on this bill (other then Miike Snow)?
You're kidding right?
If Pearl Jam's management is taking this route of pushing the Pearl Jam name to play these weird festivals why not put them on the Blue Mountain Apple Harvest Festival bill? Or Blue Grass Hill Billy Deluxe Festival?

the other bands listed are some of the tops in their genres. Just saw Santigold at Coachella......very lively show. Always nice to go to a festival with an open mind. you may not find your next favorite band, but you may enjoy something new and different.

True but there are many MANY folks out there that don't want to waste their time & money on those other acts, many of which suck or are just god awful. They are there to see their band at work. And that's it. It just doesn't make sense when this band has a huge fan base play these festival show's. If the band is sick & tired with the USA / CDN reserved seating on the main floor level then change it back to the old school day's and make it a huge general admission mosh pit. Change it around a bit. It'll be fun. Just enough with the festival gig madness!!
I'm still recovering from Bamboozle... First festival, and I'm 40! Foo rocked it! Not sure I can do another festival, but Pearl Jam???? I'll have to rally, somehow. 50,000 fellow Jersians, was quite a trip!
Hotels? Try Embassy Suites, they have a great view and I love thier location. Also Loews Hotel is really nice, great location, but can be expensive. Good luck folks!

Tell us how you really feel about the supporting acts .
The two day pass is the same price as a 1 day pass for PJ20. Just waiting at the main stage and seeng PJ up front, even if for an hour and a half, is worth the price of admission.

They could accomplish that by playing actual headlining dates, not just this festival money grab mini tour.
I hear Ed needs another fireman's pole in his house.

This would make my life happier.
This would also severely cut down on the number of two-day passes sold. Can't see it happening.
I wish it were the Coming to America Festival with headliner ...

Jay Z said at the announcement that he is only doing one night. I read rumors that he is doign Saturday night, but I have a hard time believing that.
Myabe PJ plays 2nd one night and headlines a night ?

I would guess PJ headlines night 1 and Jay Z headlines night 2 if these reports are accurate.
