well now I am officially on the fence about this. it's only an hour away from me, but I don't care for festivals.

    hhhmmm.......

If it's an hour away from you I wouldn't miss it. But to travel from another country for this, I don't know.

can anyone point me in the directions of hotels that would be close by walking distance to the park since i dont drive

and what would be the best way public transportation wise to get there from nyc?

Stone was saying they are excited and stuff like that, that they are playing Europe and a few festival dates this year with the plan on finishing the new album up and having it come out next year. I only caught the end of it, did he say anything else that may be important?

Technically the parkway is considered part of Fairmount Park because of ther landscaping and grass

Poets generally have meaning in what they write. Rappers, in general, rap about spending money on cars, bling, ho's, going to the club, etc. There are a select few rappers where I can say I see talent (Zack de la Rocha, Busta Rhymes, some Tupac, Chuck D, Beasties). But for the most part, today's rappers are ridiculous.

the level of ignorance you are spewing is astounding. just stop typing. nothing worse than when someone feels the need to push their misinformed opinion over and over and over and over and over again.

this festival is going to be awesome. i've always wanted to see jay-z, and here's my chance...along-side pearl jam no less.

furthermore, jay-z knows good music. i can promise that the official lineup will be great. and $99 bucks for a two-day festival? can't beat that. i can't wait for this.

Definitely going. For all the people who arent going cause you dont like rap. Fuck off. No one cares. I dont like Jay Z but hes still one of the best rappers of all time. You dont have to like him but you should respect him.
Yes a festival show isnt as good as a dedicated show,(setlist is more of a hits type, large crowds, etc..) but seriously ive never seen a bigger bunch of whiners and complainers.

Plus this just reaffirms that a mini northeast tour is in the works. ;):D

It's simple. 5 minute subway ride to center city hotels, easy walk to the parkway.

it never ceases to amaze me the level of stupidity that is posted on this board. why does everyone hate rappers so much? you all sound racist. picking on rappers in the manner that it's being done in this thread is like someone saying that rock music sucks because they don't like nickelback and good charlotte. there's good music and there's disposable music in every genre. if you don't know anything about hip-hop, which clearly some of you don't, then there is absolutely no reason for you to be judging it. that is all...

Seriously, people like Eminem, Jay-z, Wu Tang, Tribe called quest, (theres obviously more) are all extemely talented. I dont even really like rap, save for a few artists like the ones I named, but I agree some people are so narrow minded and uninformed it just makes them look stupid.

    it's fine...

i stayed on market street for the 09 shows....downtown is pretty dead, but i felt safe walking from the orange line to my hotel. the parkway is just up the street a little further from where i stayed.
81 is now off the air
