There are a few threads floating around so I figured I would just go ahead and put the info into one, since this is going to happen. Check recent tweets from WMMR's Matt Cord and Nick McIlwain and the screen shot that has been floating around from LiveNation (Philly.com had a blurb about it as well http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainm ... =138887484)

So there, go ahead and say :nono: "it isn't official yet", but it will be announced soon enough....

if this is true, then I think it is safe to say no regular (non-festival) shows will happen near Philly in the fall. Bummer, I am not really up for a festival, going to have to think about this one.

Happy for you Philly people though... such an odd setup, but it could work out pretty well?

I think they’ll hit other profitable markets on the east coast, like DC and Boston. Like in 2008 when they played Bonaroo, they came up the coast. They’re not going to pay all that money in transporting their equipment across the country to play one or two shows. Small east coast tour around the Philly festival... Wait for the official announcement, then other dates to follow.

Philly residents, what area of Philadelphia would be a good place to look for a hotel if attending this festival? Are there hotels within walking distance (1 mile or so)? Thanks for the help!

No interest...even though its so close. Not going to waste a day sitting thru other acts just to see PJ perform for an hour and a half. Not worth it. I'll hold out for the regular shows and hit some of the STP tour.

usually when they have concerts on the Parkway, the stage is set up right at the step of the Art Museum.

Windsor Suites and the Four Seasons are the hotels right on the Parkway....there are lots within walking distance......Marriott, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton.....some others too but that is all I can think of off the top of my head

There are hotels in downtown Philly that are walking distance, but probably pricey. Check out Rittenhouse Square and Old City areas, in particular.

A cheaper option is South Jersey (Cherry Hill, Collingswood, etc.). There's a rail line that goes right in to center city Philly.

not along the parkway but actually on the parkway. in front of Art Museum leading down towards City Hall. Long stretch of road but not terribly wide. they have a 4th of July concert there every year (free concert) and had Live 8 there. for the free concert it hold's over 100,000 people. supposedly this festival they are keeping it to 50,000.

cherry hill is your best bet to save some money... terrible lineup though. normally i would be excited as there is always atleast 2 good bands playing.. hoping someone is added that is half decent apart from pearl jam.
