cherry hill is your best bet to save some money... terrible lineup though. normally i would be excited as there is always atleast 2 good bands playing.. hoping someone is added that is half decent apart from pearl jam.

if this is true, then I think it is safe to say no regular (non-festival) shows will happen near Philly in the fall. Bummer, I am not really up for a festival, going to have to think about this one.
IF they play in Philly...Please have my room ready :lol:

Philly residents, what area of Philadelphia would be a good place to look for a hotel if attending this festival? Are there hotels within walking distance (1 mile or so)? Thanks for the help!

    POP POP!

There are hotels in downtown Philly that are walking distance, but probably pricey. Check out Rittenhouse Square and Old City areas, in particular.

A cheaper option is South Jersey (Cherry Hill, Collingswood, etc.). There's a rail line that goes right in to center city Philly.

i stayed downtown at the crown plaza on market for 60 per night for the final two spectrum shows. betterbidding.com is your friend

I think they’ll hit other profitable markets on the east coast, like DC and Boston. Like in 2008 when they played Bonaroo, they came up the coast. They’re not going to pay all that money in transporting their equipment across the country to play one or two shows. Small east coast tour around the Philly festival... Wait for the official announcement, then other dates to follow.

yes you would think so. Love to see them in Atlantic City in Boardwalk Hall.

usually when they have concerts on the Parkway, the stage is set up right at the step of the Art Museum.

    http://www.ourtravelpics.com/philadelph ... ia_183.jpg

Windsor Suites and the Four Seasons are the hotels right on the Parkway....there are lots within walking distance......Marriott, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton.....some others too but that is all I can think of off the top of my head

Thank you very much and to others who posted info thanks a lot. Hope to make it to this and I agree, an additional rock band wouldn't hurt!

On one hand... hooray PJ in Philly! Thought I wasn't going to get to see them this year.

On the other hand... mreh. Who'da thunk there'd be a day where I would consider not bothering with a local show. I have two rules: See every show I can in the Pittsburgh area, and see every show I can in the Philly area. I skipped the opening gig for the Stones at PNC Park a few yrs back b/c it wasn't worth the price or the drive to see an abbreviated show. I'm really not enthused about all the rest of the nonsense in this lineup for an abbreviated PJ show this time around.

They could accomplish that by playing actual headlining dates, not just this festival money grab mini tour.

IMHO, Pj opening up for the Stones = 50 minute set. Pearl Jam headlining a festival= 2-2.5 hour set. No comparison. Additionally, the full line-up hasn't been announced. Jay-Z is a smart business man and PJ inc. knows what their fans expect. I highly doubt Pearl Jam will be the only rock band performing.

I like festivals because it forces me to open my eyes to other types of music I'm not really into. You should consider it... You never know what you might discover. But hey if this turns people off then it just means a few more inches of wiggle room I'll have.
