I wouldn't be too mad if I was the Knicks management or fans because they lose the next two with or without him.

Water Fountain: I've been working in this arena for almost 10 years. I've never seen anything like what happened Monday night.

Snack Machine: Usually it's a pretty calm scene in the hallway. Players trying to get to the court, to the locker room. There's really not a lot of folks around. It's just me, Water Fountain, Alarm Bell, Soda Machine and Fire Extinguisher.

Alarm Bell: Nobody actually calls him Fire Extinguisher. His real name is Dave.

Fire Extinguisher: It's true. Everybody calls me Dave. I've been at the arena since 1999 – I helped open the place. Great team, the 1999-2000 Heat. Alonzo, Hardaway, Dan Majerle. I used to golf with Majerle in the off-season. Tremendous guy.

Water Fountain: Most of the time we stay out of the players' way.

Fire Extinguisher: We're paid to be in the background. Snack Machine or Water Fountain, they get a lot of attention, but a Fire Extinguisher, you only need me in an emergency. At most, I'll get a polite nod from a player or a coach, something that says, "I'm happy you're here, Fire Extinguisher."

Soda Machine: Pat Riley has always been nice to us.

Snack Machine: Pat Riley sent my son a comb and a jar of hair gel on his birthday. Love that man.

Fire Extinguisher: Visiting players? We seldom have contact with visiting players. Those guys aren't really interested in making friends. But it's not nasty or anything like that. It's just businesslike.

Water Fountain: Some of the out-of-towners are nice. Ray Allen is awesome. Kevin Durant. Steve Nash.

Soda Machine: Kobe's cool. I know that may surprise you but he's very polite. He always has exact change.

Alarm Bell: Sometimes you hear the players in the hallway on their cellphones, making plans for the night. I don't want to name names, but wow, the things you hear! People like to have fun in Miami!

Fire Extinguisher: But the point is that it's very, very, very quiet in our hallway. There's never been any trouble. Until Monday night.

Water Fountain: It happened so fast. The Knicks had lost and they were walking back to the locker room. I was just being polite, saying, "Good game Baron, good game Melo, good game Novak…" when I heard something smash.

Soda Machine: It was like WHAM! I thought someone had broken into Snack Machine.

Alarm Bell: That's what I thought, too! Every once in a while, a player will get into it with Snack Machine, and scream at him for not giving him Doritos or something. He'll pound on the plastic and yell, "Give me my Doritos!"

Snack Machine: Sometimes they'll shake me! It's so insane! I weigh more than Shaq!

Fire Extinguisher: I want to be very clear. I did not provoke Amar'e Stoudemire. I've been an Amar'e fan for a long time. Loved him with the Suns. Love him on the Knicks. Love his goggles.

Soda Machine: I don't think Dave said anything.

Fire Extinguisher: I was actually checking my iPhone to get an update on the Dallas-OKC game. And then SMASH! It felt like the wind got knocked out of me. I was stunned.

Alarm Bell: People started freaking out in the hall. It was crazy.

Snack Machine: Why would anyone want to hit Dave? He's the nicest guy in the arena.

Water Fountain: They got Amar'e out of there fast. I guess he hurt his hand. Dave, meanwhile, was all over the place – glass on the floor. He was a mess.

Fire Extinguisher: It's the first time I've had my glass broken. It's pretty painful. I know everyone says it's not my body – it's just the case around me. But it totally hurts. I can still feel it right now talking to you.

Alarm Bell: All the attention was focused on Amar'e – is he hurt? How bad? It took a while before anyone came back to clean up Dave's glass.

Soda Machine: I offered Dave a Diet Mountain Dew, but he said no.

Fire Extinguisher: Some of the Heat players came up to see how I was doing. Juwan Howard, Mario Chalmers. LeBron offered to pay any medical bills. LeBron's alright. He gets a bad rap.

Snack Machine: The whole thing made me furious. If a player tried to punch me, I'd just fall right on top of him. They'd be out for the season.

Fire Extinguisher: Everyone started asking me for interviews – ESPN, AP, Miami Herald, New York Post. I got texts from Stephen A. Smith, Dan Le Batard. Charles Barkley texted me! I love Charles Barkley, he's the best. I might do his show. I might do Charlie Rose. And of course Fire Apparatus Journal.

Water Fountain: Nobody asked me, but I think Amar'e should be suspended. Complete sucker punch. Look at what happened to Ron Metta Peace, or whatever his name is. Rondo just got a game for bumping a ref.

Fire Extinguisher: I don't know about suspensions. That's up to the NBA. I want to stay out of it. That's David Stern's call.

Snack Machine: The least the Knicks can do is buy him some new glass.

Alarm Bell: Dave's famous now! We've all been making fun of him. Can't let all this attention go to his nozzle!

Fire Extinguisher: I just want to go back to work. The Heat did not need my help to beat the Knicks. Come on. You saw Game 1 and 2. Give me a break.
