I tried so hard to open mine...I wanted to know what was inside...
They had an exhibit about these in our children's museum last year and they showed the inside of one, it was pretty cool! It looks like this:
that's cool...I know I read in a book wow they were made...but seeing it is so much different!
i have a goal of trying to draw an awesome pic like those people draw:The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Wiki: Etch a Sketch was manufactured in Bryan, Ohio until the company moved the manufacturing plant to Shenzhen, China in 2001.The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I used to drink gallons of that stuff when I was a kid. I miss it!
Also, long before the days of Wii and DDR, my friend who lived across the street had a Nintendo Power Pad, and I'd go to his house to play this game with him:

Oh man, great stroll down memory lane. Some of these things I haven't thought of in years! I'm loving it.0

Yay, it is back up again. I wanted to get into this thread so bad. These post bring back a lot of memories for me. I still have my metal fridge and stove up in my attic. However, mine is more of an 80's model. I also wanted to post these:
I still have mine that is exactly like this, pink and blue paper still inside.

I had a pair of LA Gears similar to these, but mine were kid's shoes:

I also had some sort of like these:

And do not forget leg warmers...Hearts and thoughts they fade....
fade away...
I am at peace with my lust.....for Eddie.0 -

When I was a kid me and my sister would ride in the hatchback all the time, waving at and mooning other drivers when our folks weren't looking, and no cared (maybe the mooning part is a bit weird, lol). And then our parents would leave us waiting in the car for huge lengths of time because we didn't feel like doing whatever they were doing... at night... and no one batted an eye. Now peolle are known to call the cops if they see a mom leaving their kid in the car while they walk 20 feet to mail a letter! Aaahhhhhh, the 80s. And don't forget Gatorade gum and Super Socco drink boxes! With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
When I was a kid we celebrated Guy Fawkes night by going down the park with everyone else in the neighbourhood to light a great big bonfire and let off crackers! Never forget what FUN it was!!! Now, of course, crackers and fireworks are illegal and the bonfires, non-existent.0

These were my favorite toys back in the mid 80's. They were like a knockoff of Transformers but they were awesome to me. Also had a cartoon on TV similar to Transformers. He who forgets will be destined to remember.
