I saw Pearl Jam at Randall's Island (9-29-96) for my first PJ show but didn't really get into them full-time until 97.
However, the first concert I saw that was non-PJ was KISS at the Corestates Spectrum in Philly on Oct. 9, 1996. I was a big KISS fan at the time and this show rocked!
Here's the setlist:
1. Deuce
2. King Of The Night Time World
3. Do You Love Me
4. Calling Dr. Love
5. Cold Gin
6. Watchin' You
7. Firehouse
8. I Stole Your Love
9. Shock Me
10. Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll
11. Shout It Out Loud
12. Strutter
13. God of Thunder
14. New York Groove (Hello cover)
15. Love Gun
16. 100,000 Years
17. Black Diamond
Encore:
18. Detroit Rock City
19. Beth
20. Rock And Roll All Nite0 -
1991 I believe was the year. I was 15 years old at the time.
Screaming Tress and the opening bands were Small and King Crab at the fair grounds in Kennewick Washington.0 -
I asked my older sister the same question.
She saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium and Boston Garden. There was a pic in the Record American of her and her friends sifting through a hotel dumpster in search of Beatle trash
She went to the Isle of Wight fest in 1970 and saw Hendrix, The Who, and the Doors among others.
Tiny Tim was also on the bill
She became a Moody Blues groupie and saw a bunch of their shows in the US. She was invited backstage and hung out with them and took many photos. SLUT !!!! :roll:0 -
I think it was 1989 or 1990 I went with a church youth group to a Christian band, Petra's, concert but my first "real" rock concert was R.E.M. in 1995 in Austin. PJ played the venue, Southpark Meadows, the night before but I didn't get tickets and I regret that so much!0

I saw REM from the front row in 1981. I never heard of them before. They opened for the Police.Of The Aggie wrote:I think it was 1989 or 1990 I went with a church youth group to a Christian band, Petra's, concert but my first "real" rock concert was R.E.M. in 1995 in Austin. Personally, I can not get into concerts that have lip synching. Janet Jackson is another one.curlygirly9 wrote:kelly311 wrote:merkinball wrote:Jackson 5 Victory Tour at Dodger Stadium. 1984

Anytime an artist does highly athletic dance moves , it comes at the expense of live singing.
The Partridge Family were th pioneers of lip synching and air guitar with tapes.

I was taken to a lot of classical recitals when I was a kid. The first important one I remember was Vladimir Horowitz.
As far as rock concerts go, I vaguely remember being taken to something in GoldenGate park (in SF) when I was not even in school yet...some kind of Love-in thing...someone gave me a big paper daisy and painted my face! The funniest thing about that concert was that one of the older kids that lived near us said "Some one is smoking pan over there!"

Pots, pans, to a little kid they're the same!!!

Understood. JJ's always been extremely underrated I think. She has just as many great songs as MJ, and puts on a great show. I saw her for the up close and personal Number Ones tour, so there wasn't any costume changes or anything, and it was great to just listen to the songs, but I would love to see her again too, and see the big show!Rose Garden Arena - Nov 02, 2000, Key Arena - Oct 22, 2001, Key Arena - Dec 08, 2002, Key Arena - Dec 09, 2002, Clark County Amphitheater - Sep 26, 20090 -
November 1999, I was 18. Primus with buckethead and Incubus opening. Walked in and Buckethead was on stage, had never heard of him, not at all what I could have expected seeing walking into a venue. Had never heard of incubus at the time either, so great to have got to see them when they were still small, they turned me into a fan that night.Shows Attended:

Aqueduct
Shiny Toy Guns
Cold War Kids
Death Cab for Cutie
The Killers
At the time The Killers were my favorite band and they are actually my second favorite band today. It was a great first concert, Cold War Kids were amazing and The Killers well killed it (Sorry for the pun) DCFC were disappointing however.
My cousin went to high school with the lead singer of Aqueduct. His name is Dave Terry. He was in a local Tulsa band called Epperley. I loved Epperley. I met Dave Terry at the Vans Warped tour in 1998 in Tulsa. First time seeing Rev Horton Heat at this festival- that band blew me away. wow

Pink Floyd 1993 at the Pontiac Silverdome.. They played Dark Side in it's entirety for the first time in 17 years, and it later was recorded in London for the "Pulse" album.. great time, I was 14.. and stoned.. It was like going on the biggest ride at the amusement park firstNone are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe that they are free.
