Metallica with Corossion of Comfority opening in April of 1997, I went 2 nights in a row. I was 16.
My first concert was supposed to be Butthole Surfers, Toadies, Supersuckers and Rev Horton Heat in the summer of 1996 but it got cancelled. That would have been such a damn awesome show.

Cool, was it Rhythm Nation? Saw her last August, it was awesome.
Rose Garden Arena - Nov 02, 2000, Key Arena - Oct 22, 2001, Key Arena - Dec 08, 2002, Key Arena - Dec 09, 2002, Clark County Amphitheater - Sep 26, 2009
My first was Guns N' Roses in the Stocholm Olympic Staduim (Still wounder why PJ not does their show an that stadium in summer..) it was june 12 1992, I was 12 and its still my best concert memory ever, to bad I will not get a cahnce to se them again.
Wery jellous about that Doors concert!!!
ISO, vinyl: Avocado, Binural, Riot Act, Lost Dogs, Benny
I saw Pearl Jam at Randall's Island (9-29-96) for my first PJ show but didn't really get into them full-time until 97.
However, the first concert I saw that was non-PJ was KISS at the Corestates Spectrum in Philly on Oct. 9, 1996. I was a big KISS fan at the time and this show rocked!
Here's the setlist:
1. Deuce
2. King Of The Night Time World
3. Do You Love Me
4. Calling Dr. Love
5. Cold Gin
6. Watchin' You
7. Firehouse
8. I Stole Your Love
9. Shock Me
10. Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll
11. Shout It Out Loud
12. Strutter

17. Black Diamond
Encore:
18. Detroit Rock City
19. Beth
20. Rock And Roll All Nite
1991 I believe was the year. I was 15 years old at the time.
Screaming Tress and the opening bands were Small and King Crab at the fair grounds in Kennewick Washington.
I asked my older sister the same question.
She saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium and Boston Garden. There was a pic in the Record American of her and her friends sifting through a hotel dumpster in search of Beatle trash
She went to the Isle of Wight fest in 1970 and saw Hendrix, The Who, and the Doors among others.
Tiny Tim was also on the bill
She became a Moody Blues groupie and saw a bunch of their shows in the US. She was invited backstage and hung out with them and took many photos. SLUT !!!!
I think it was 1989 or 1990 I went with a church youth group to a Christian band, Petra's, concert but my first "real" rock concert was R.E.M. in 1995 in Austin. PJ played the venue, Southpark Meadows, the night before but I didn't get tickets and I regret that so much!

I saw REM from the front row in 1981. I never heard of them before. They opened for the Police.

Personally, I can not get into concerts that have lip synching. Janet Jackson is another one.
Anytime an artist does highly athletic dance moves , it comes at the expense of live singing.
The Partridge Family were th pioneers of lip synching and air guitar with tapes.
I was taken to a lot of classical recitals when I was a kid. The first important one I remember was Vladimir Horowitz.
As far as rock concerts go, I vaguely remember being taken to something in GoldenGate park (in SF) when I was not even in school yet...some kind of Love-in thing...someone gave me a big paper daisy and painted my face! The funniest thing about that concert was that one of the older kids that lived near us said "Some one is smoking pan over there!"
"Yeah it was! I would like to see her again, but I can never get anyone to go with me! "
Understood. JJ's always been extremely underrated I think. She has just as many great songs as MJ, and puts on a great show. I saw her for the up close and personal Number Ones tour, so there wasn't any costume changes or anything, and it was great to just listen to the songs, but I would love to see her again too, and see the big show!

November 1999, I was 18. Primus with buckethead and Incubus opening. Walked in and Buckethead was on stage, had never heard of him, not at all what I could have expected seeing walking into a venue. Had never heard of incubus at the time either, so great to have got to see them when they were still small, they turned me into a fan that night.
My dad took me to my first concert, December 9, 2008. It was The End's Deck the Hall Ball festival which had the bands;
Aqueduct
Shiny Toy Guns
Cold War Kids
Death Cab for Cutie
The Killers
At the time The Killers were my favorite band and they are actually my second favorite band today. It was a great first concert, Cold War Kids were amazing and The Killers well killed it (Sorry for the pun) DCFC were disappointing however.
My cousin went to high school with the lead singer of Aqueduct. His name is Dave Terry. He was in a local Tulsa band called Epperley. I loved Epperley. I met Dave Terry at the Vans Warped tour in 1998 in Tulsa. First time seeing Rev Horton Heat at this festival- that band blew me away. wow
can't remember if I posted in here already, but Mine was Beach Boys in 1989. I was in Kindergarten. They played at six flags Astroworld as part of the summer concert series.
Pink Floyd 1993 at the Pontiac Silverdome.. They played Dark Side in it's entirety for the first time in 17 years, and it later was recorded in London for the "Pulse" album.. great time, I was 14.. and stoned.. It was like going on the biggest ride at the amusement park first

Abrn Hlls '98 - Clarkston 2 '03 - Grd Rpds '06 - Abrn Hlls '06 - Clvd '10 - PJ20 - Berlin 1+2 '12 - Wrigley '13 - Pitt '13- buff '13- Philly 1+2 '13 - Seattle '13
Yeah. Didn't realize that till I looked up the year of the tour. All I remember is Michael slaying the big robot dragon and just how heavy the bass was on the field.
I recently had lunch with the guy who designed that big robot - was actually a spider! He's got a book coming out and he talks about it for the first time in it - www.bobgurr.com
He's a Disney Legend - has a window on Main Street. Designed the monorail, matterhorn, subs - all the main st vehicles. Also the pirate ship battle at Treasure Island in Vegas and the old Universal King Kong. Amazing guy.
Back on topic - I was 10 , it was the Buffalo Springfield at Whittier High School! I begged for those tickets!! My preteen crush was Uncle Neil ( never ended ).

R.E.M. with Radiohead as the opener
Nashville, TN 9-11-95
You are so lucky. Radiohead are my favourite band next to PJ, and REM have always been one of my favs too. As far as my first concert goes, I saw a little song and dance man called Leo Sayer back in the late 70s, he put on a pretty good show and is still around today but doesn't do much singing as far as I know.
First show was Lynyrd Skynyrd w/Peter Frampton in 1998, following a couple of months by my first Pearl Jam concert on June 29, 1998 in Chicago. I really enjoyed the Lynyrd Skynyrd show. Great music, and Peter Frampton can jam.
1. Red Hot Chili Peppers w/ Toadies & Spacehog - 03/1996
2. Smashing Pumpkins w/ Grant Lee Buffalo - 10/1996
3. Silverchair w/ Handsome - Valentines Day 1997

I don't think it did that night, but it was a two night stand maybe the next show.
THAT is an awesome first outing!
