I recently had lunch with the guy who designed that big robot - was actually a spider! He's got a book coming out and he talks about it for the first time in it - www.bobgurr.commerkinball wrote:curlygirly9 wrote:merkinball wrote:Jackson 5 Victory Tour at Dodger Stadium. 1984
WOW! That was their last tour right?
Yeah. Didn't realize that till I looked up the year of the tour. All I remember is Michael slaying the big robot dragon and just how heavy the bass was on the field.
He's a Disney Legend - has a window on Main Street. Designed the monorail, matterhorn, subs - all the main st vehicles. Also the pirate ship battle at Treasure Island in Vegas and the old Universal King Kong. Amazing guy.
Back on topic - I was 10 , it was the Buffalo Springfield at Whittier High School! I begged for those tickets!! My preteen crush was Uncle Neil ( never ended ).0 -

You are so lucky. Radiohead are my favourite band next to PJ, and REM have always been one of my favs too. As far as my first concert goes, I saw a little song and dance man called Leo Sayer back in the late 70s, he put on a pretty good show and is still around today but doesn't do much singing as far as I know.0 -
First show was Lynyrd Skynyrd w/Peter Frampton in 1998, following a couple of months by my first Pearl Jam concert on June 29, 1998 in Chicago. I really enjoyed the Lynyrd Skynyrd show. Great music, and Peter Frampton can jam.0

Harry Chapin
I was eight, went with my parents, it was not my idea. It was, to quote Mr. Vedder, the first time I smelled something I've smelled a number of times since then.
Just think, some day someone will ask my younger son that question, and he will give the same answer, substituting "Pearl Jam" for "Harry Chapin."
First "real"concert was The Style Council, in Berlin. It was one of the musical highlights of my life. Paul Weller just is an amazing performer. All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -
Iron Maiden World Slavery Tour 13th September 1984 Edinburgh Playhouse I still have the ticket, think the cost was £6:50 or something ridiculously cheap by today's standards.
I was 15,got drunk on my friends mum's home made wine, she threw up at the concert,I had to hold her back from hanging of the balcony.
We had a great time,I wore my brand new Maiden t-shirt to school the next day

Stones Vodoo Lounge Tour '94,
Commonwealth Stadium In Edmonton Alberta,
Outdoor concerts are the best!
Except I had joints in a baggy down my pants, and after standing in the port-a-potty line up FOREVER during the opener, when it was finally my turn to pee,I forgot about them, whipped my jeans down and watched them fall into the abyss
I will walk w/my hands bound
I will walk w/my face blood
I will walk w/my shadow flag

Too much, i started thinking about this halfway down the page as I was reading over everybody else's posts
Mine was Aerosmith (I think it was 1990) Pump Tour at the Skydome in Toronto, Skidrow opened for them. It was awesome. I was 15 at the time, had to get dad to drive me and my buddy down to Toronto. I was very thankful for that and he didn't even come into the show, I actually don't even know what he did, could have sat in the truck for the 3 hours for all I know. But as I look back that was very cool of him. Its about a 2 hour drive for us to get to Toronto one way.2005 - London
