Thought this was funny:
Bill Simmons, sports columnist, was answering his mailbox regarding "Linsanity" and here is what he said:
Q: You joked that Disney would call the Tebow movie "Fourth and God." What's the Lin movie going to be called?
— John, Berkeley, Calif.
SG: My first instinct was to give it a cute title like Linning Time, but when you consider this is following the real-life Rudy or Rocky script — and he's more talented than either of them — wouldn't we have to call it Jeremy? And have Pearl Jam remake "Jeremy" with lyrics that center around a Taiwanese-American Harvard grad saving the Knicks instead of, you know, a bullied kid destroying everyone in his class?

I can just see the music video now...haha

That's pretty funny actually .. "Jeremy has spoken" .. and harmless I might add ... let the kid have his moment . .this has been one hell of a thing to watch .. how do you not root for this guy ? I live here in PHX and when Nash was running that system it's the BEST basketball I've ever witnessed. It's an awesome out of nowhere story, he's like Rudy with talent. I hope the winning streak goes to like 10-15 games then it's going to get crazy. I'm drinking the Linmonade.0

Unlikely. He got his chance and he's proven himself. You don't go for 38 against the Lakers and fade away. He's got the body to be in the NBA and the work ethic to stay there.Tread Lightly.0 -

You are so wrong about this. Jeremy Lin can really play. Have you been watching?
The Garden also played Jeremy over the PA when the Knicks won a couple of games back.
The Knicks announcers made a Jeremy reference.
MSG network also played Jeremy going out of or coming back from a commercial.
Bill Simmons is my favorite sports writer. If you haven't read this:

No shot. He has been on 3 different teams and was about to be cut from the Knicks until Carmello got hurt. He will go right back to being a bench player soon enough.
Its one week for goodness sakes. He has been in the league for 3 years and has averaged around 5 minutes per game.

Totally disagree. Read the mailbag this thread came from and you'll have a realistic appraisal of his ability to stick. He's not going to keep THIS up long term, but he's going to play for years. And start. He just didn't get a chance before now. Look at what he's done. You can't unring that bell. Even if he flames out (doubtful) another team will take a crack at "Linsanity."
And he's a MUCH better point guard than Tebow is a quarterback. There's no real comparison there.Apr 07, 1994/Oct 01, 1996/Jul 07, 1998/Jul 08, 1998/Aug 29, 1998/Aug 31, 1998/Sep 01, 1998/Sep 03, 1998/Sep 04, 1998/Sep 06, 1998/Jun 01, 2000/Jun 04, 2000/Jun 06, 2000/Oct 20, 2000/Oct 21, 2000/Oct 22, 2000/Oct 24, 2000/Oct 25, 2000/Oct 20, 2001/Oct 21, 2001/May 30, 2003/Jun 01, 2003/Jun 02, 2003/Jun 28, 2003/Jul 02, 2003/Oct 25, 2003/Jul 15, 2006/Jul 16, 2006/Jul 18, 2006/Jul 20, 2006/Jul 22, 2006/Jul 23, 2006/Sep 21, 2009/Sep 22, 2009/Sep 26, 2009/Sep 25, 20110 -

Actually this is his second year in the league. He only played in 29 games last year, mostly because Golden State has a solid back court in Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. Thats the reason he didnt get playing time. Its not cause he couldn't play, he never got his chance. Houston cut him this season only because they needed a Center, (Sam Dalembert), and Kyle Lowry, their point guard, is playing out of his mind right now. Daryl Morey, the GM of the Rockets, publicly admitted that he made a huge mistake cutting Lin.0 -
RM22...you're either bitter because it's a NY player and not someone on the 76ers (or whatever team you like) - or you just haven't been actually watching him play - or both. Any sports fan who understands football and basketball will tell you those two examples don't compare. Tebow will ultimately lose his job, while Lin will not. If you think I'm biased because I live in NYC think again - I despise NY sports teams - (see my avatar).
Tebow thinks god has more to do with his success than his teammates and his style of play in the NFL will never stand the test of time. His style of play requires him to be the focal point of their offense and unlike Lin, he isn't any good at distributing the ball to his teammates. He'll likely get hurt with that option style of play anyway.
Lin on the other hand is a masterful distributor of the ball - something the Knicks haven't had in forever. He's a selfless teammate that can either pick up the slack when the stars are out of the game yet be perfectly content scoring 8 points but having 15 assists. And he plays defense! True team players are rare these days in the NBA, which is why Lin will succeed. With Anthony or without. Oh, and Lin is far more intelligent that Tebow. That also helps.0 -
This is comical. 3 teams in less than 2 years, every team passes on drafting him, no college team offers him a scholarship and this is the guy who will all of a sudden become a superstar in the NBA. It just doesn't happen and won't happen, not in this sport.Member 164xxx

While I agree it is only a week and everyone should see what he is doing in a month, if you are looking in the NFL, James Harrison is a better example than Tebow. He was cut by both the Steelers and Ravens before being resigned by the Steelers. He now has 2 superbowl rings and defensive player of the year award. Also came from a small school and was undrafted....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0 -

Right. Like Tom Brady drafted in the 7th round.
Ben Wallace? Ever heard of him? He was undrafted.
Avery Johnson? Undrafted.
Oh, and while we're on the Knicks: John Starks - undrafted.
You don't know what you're talking about. No one can predict the future, but you're not making any sense.0 -

There are a million examples like that. RM22 just hasn't ever heard of any of them.0
