Glad I've been paying membership dues for 19 years now to get added to a "lottery" with all the newbies and scalpers. Way to help out the scalpers that have 10 memberships each!! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

I'm 22 and am no less of a Pearl Jam fan than someone who discovered them at their conception. Since I discovered them at fifteen I have listened to every song off every album countless times, seen them 13 times live, and think the lottery is a great way to show appreciation for young fans like myself. To call me a newbie is wrong, and to say that you should always be entitled to better seats than me because you were born earlier is an elitist opinion I believe to be false.

This argument is a moot point.

No reasonable person would argue he/she deserves to sit closer because they're older. Some older fans didn't join until later on in the band's life, while some younger fans joined in their early teens. The fans that have paid yearly membership dues right from the beginning ensured the band was able to continue on their path when CD sales dwindled after Vitalogy, when the band wasn't touring because of the Ticketmaster issue, and when the band wanted to maintain a certain lifestyle based on a business model that allowed them to tour and record whenever they felt like. Seniority was a reward to the entire 10C membership base, and someone with better seniority is entitled to better seats.

You're 22 years old and you've already seen the band 13 times. You've likely seen this band more often than many fans twice your age. In twenty years my children will probably lament the fact they weren't able to see this band at least once, let alone 54 times (at present count). Having said that this band doesn't exist in a vacuum - a fan that has been paying 10C membership dues diligently for the majority of your lifetime is entitled to sit far closer than you at the band's show but the 10C appreciates your membership and rewards you with good seats as well...good, but not in the 1st 10 rows on the floor.

You're no less of a fan regardless.

Exactly right, and besides, according to this http://www.pearljam.com/ten-club/tickets, the seniority process for tickets hasn't changed.

So, you'd rather have 1,200 people fight for 1,000 tickets for three hours hitting F5 (which is a lottery basically) instead of 1,200 people click one button and then find out shortly after if they got tiekts (which is a lottery too)? This belief that you are more deserving of a ticket because you are willing to waste four hours of your day sitting at a computer screen.

To, me the current method is fine because it is easy to get the local shows I go to in the Midwest, and then I'm fine just being in the building with TM tickets for those shows that sellout on the Ten Club website. But for these bigger shows, the current system IS a lottery and I'd rather switch to a lottery that doesn't require to take a day off or buy a faster internet connection or Ipad in order to get tickets.
    1. I never said I was more deserving because I'd rather fight it out. Never once said that. I said I'd rather spend the time and have a better chance. You call a busy on-sale a lottery anyway, but if you are willing to sit it out you might strike out BUT your odds are better. They just are -- how much better is anyone's guess.

    2. Yes, I'd rather them do the current system and get the infrastructure/backend fixed than an email lottery. Again - I'd rather bet on myself than on an email lottery system. For people who don't want to be bothered with the on-sale I can see why they'd want a lottery, but I'd rather spend 4 hours and get tickets than email and have it be completely random. Outside of huge markets this is not usual anyway until the last year, and that can be fixed since so many other websites for tickets, posters, collectibles, etc, etc do it time and time again without sabotage issues.

I don't see a need for a change in the current way it is done. Not to piss anyone off but sometimes you win....sometimes you loose. It took me 8 hours to find out that I got tickets to go to Alpine Valley. Was it worth it????? You be the judge of that but I say YES IT WAS. I took of work with the full knowledge that I had a heck of a fight on my hands to get tickets but I did it willingly and would do it again tomorrow. To change this because of some folks who got shut out and fill the boards up with all the crying that has went on over the last few months is really not right in my honest opinion. The majority of the folks here seem to be happy with the way things are. I hope this isn't just a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease.
The only show I never got to go to was the Vick Theater and that is basically in my backyard. I didn't cry about it. I took the night off of work (even though I didn't get to go) and hung out on the boards and watched the set list unfold. Posted with some other unlucky people and had a GREAT time. Had a few beers and was happy for the lucky ones who was there because I knew that one day I would be one of the lucky ones that others would (hopefully) be happy for.

I seem to like the thought with the lotto system. You have a window in which to enter the lotto, and the results are known several days later. This allows people to continue with normal sleep, work, family life, etc. and not be worried about having to buy a new keyboard because you broke your F5 key.
