I'd be all for a lottery if there was some type of priority based on your zip code so home town fans got taken care of first, but that likely won't happen.

Until then... I say build a firewall to keep out the saboteur and stay with the old system.

in europe is GA shosws so seniority dont count..seniority doesnt count for scoring tickets, only count where you will be at the venue when the show is usa style, with seats

What's the deal with that anyway?

Why is it that PJ had a tragedy happen in Europe due to general admission tickets, yet they perform 100% seated venues in the USA and still let the Europeans have GA shows.... ? Does that not seem logical to anyone else?

I mean, at a lot of these europe shows, they have the option to put up seats, don't they? (excuse my ignorance here if that's not the case)... At least the venue shows, right? I assume they can't at the festivals... but if there's a "floor" they should have collapable seating like all the US venues? No?

Very few arena shows in the UK/Europe have seating on the floor, it's usually up to the artist booking the venue as to what happens. Some bands, like The Eagles (for example), will have seating. Others won't. There is the capability to put seating in all these arenas, as with North America, it just doesn't happen for whatever reason.

No moshing allowed at The Eagles gigs... Really sucks!!
EU crowds are used to mingling more... And I'm sure many bands prefer a crowd that moves, rather than a seated crowd....

It's not like you will get exactly this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw4ARbDQan0 in Europe, but you will never get it in the US anymore....

It's a step in the right direction, but there are problems.

As several 10C emails - about the wristbands for example - never reached the members, there must be problems with their system. How do we know that our electronic application will reach 10C if we apply for tickets? What if we never get to be in the lottery even if we send an application??

I find it hard to believe this is the problem of the ten club system. Newsletter systems (well the ones I've used) are reliable at sending provided the correct email address is in their database. The issue comes when ISPs or people's email settings regard the automatically sent email as spam. This is a user problem and people need only add ten club as a safe sender and they will be right.

No ecommerce site I've build using paypal has ever had an order go astray.

Re: This whole hometown show idea. That's a can of worms, people. Who's in charge of drawing up that map? You're pissed if you fall just outside whatever radius is determined or if they decide your hometown show is in city x instead of city y. If they miss large pockets of the country, is all of that area eligible for whatever show is closest? And if you can designate it yourself, will they scrutinize each individual selection? "I know you said MSG, but Albany or Hartford is closer. Sorry." I understand the thought in the abstract, but the execution of this would be an utter nightmare.

By the way, all of this is a moot point once they identify the saboteurs.

This is a god damn joke!!! A lottery for a basic PJ show???
    Are you kidding????
Did the Canadian Ticketmaster pre-sale go to smooth????
We have to add 7 steps now instead of just using a Ticketmaster system that works???????
Who is running the Ten Club?? The US government??
Actually Ten Club makes the US government look like a highly tuned machine!!
    What a joke!
    I'm completely dumbfounded!

Did we ever find out more about the horseshit "saboteur" explanation we got the first go around??
Gave up on Crowd Surge already???
    UNREAL!!
Glad I've been paying membership dues for 19 years now to get added to a "lottery" with all the newbies and scalpers. Way to help out the scalpers that have 10 memberships each!! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

To quote the greatest movie ever, in response to this:

The Dude: "Hey man, are you going to find these guys, or, you know, I mean, do you guys have any promising leads?"

Cop: "Leads? Yeah sure, I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab. They've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts. Leads?"

    Love it! Bout time.

Now if we can only get the boots an hour after the show that would be nice. And for FREE if we had a ticketmaster code. I know asking way too much :o

And please lose the membership fees. No point anymore!

Sounds like 10C now has more control over the presale, at least this one, which is a good thing. The waiting to find out if I "won" the tickets would be the hard part. We all just want instant gratification that the tickets are in our cart and credit cards charged, this will slow down the process, but at least on paper it sounds more thorough. Or getting tickets could end up being like the Hunger Games.

I would imagine this is just a stop-gap til the next 'big' tour. At least there is a 10c pre-sale for these dates unlike the added dates for Manchester & Amsterdam. It makes no sense to use the normal 10C presale method just for 2 gigs if there are still problems with it. Didn't Kelly Curtis say they couldn't use TM for a Euro pre-sale?

And who gives a shit if a newbie gets tickets, are they not allowed tickets?!?!? I hope you were being sarcastic saying that!

I have to try my luck through the general sale this time. we want to invite my sister and her partner to the berlin show II. I need 4 tickets which isn't possible through TC though we have two active memberships. however most important is that we will be there for another show...#6!

What are the arguments against it? That the 10c is conspiring against you to not give you tickets? The fact that this puts everybody on an equal playing field instead of the complete randomness of who can access a broken website is a vast improvement. I never was denied tickets with the old system but I admit it is totally unfair. We are all fans and tech savvyness should not increase one's odds over another.

That's like saying that someone shouldn't get a doctor's job over me just because they went to medical school. I hate this "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. Life is not fair. Those of us who learned ways to enhance their odds of getting tickets, and put in hours hitting F5... put in effort to do so. Those who work hard should be rewarded. Those who got shut out of tickets should work to improve that situation, and not just bitch and complain about it.

Plus this will only open the door to scalpers. Only a true fan would put in hours hitting F5.

First, your analogy is silly. This isn't a job. And, it certainly not brain surgery (doctor - get it?). I'm all for free market capitalism. But, this is not an "achievement" or participation trophy. This is to see who gets to see a concert. Pretty low on the importance scale of life and certainly not a competition (though you wouldn't know that from around here). If the system didn't keep failing, I could understand leaving it, as it is easier for 10C, easier for us, etc. But, it's broken. Looking for a different, more equitable system in order for folks to see a concert seems like the right thing to do.

Second - it's much more difficult to scalp 10C tickets than open Ticketmaster sales. I'm sure it can be done - pick up early, then sell, etc. That seems like a bit more work just to make a few bucks when those same scalpers have the Ticketmaster system down and can probably get as many tickets as they want there.

Finally - how does hitting F5 prove your fandom? And who cares? If a "lesser" fan than me (not even sure how to quantify that) gets to go to a show and not me - good for them. Missing out on a concert is disappointing, but I'm no more entitled to see a concert than anyone else. (And if you ARE a true fan, there's always a way - perhaps that's how best to determine fandom).

I still have not read a single "I'm against trying this new system" post that is anything more than a rationalization. It's ok to be selfish. It's our right to do so. But, don't try to color it.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

    ^^^ this.

I apologize that I have a life and a full-time job which prevents me from sitting at my office computer wasting company time for hours/days trying to get tickets. Does that make me less of a fan? If so, you might want to try typing my screenname into YouTube and see how little a fan I am...
