Can't believe it's been over 2 years... that is pretty ridiculous to have only come out with a greatest hits, a live album that was compiled in 97, and some US shows to date. Bit of a damp squib of a reunion, at least it's starting to pick up with the impending Oz tour and Euro dates getting announced. Then things should hopefully click into gear when the new album gets released this year.0 -

Epic lol @ Soundgarden leaking all the bands so they took down their original FB page n reposted their date..
So before Sabbath is interesting. Looks like it will just be a bonus seeing them then as I'm going to hit them at a real show.
Disgusting to think SG don't headline a festival like WTF, Prodigy omfg, um what happened to people who played instruments.0 -

Prodigy will pack that field out as well, the laughable bit is that they've been essentially playing the very same set for the last 4 years. Download must be their last festival for a while.
Sucks for the UK SG fans who would've been hoping for a proper show, but unlikely that it'll happen this time. The day ticket price for this one will be in the region of £70 I expect... for the same money I expect you could get a sleazyjet/Ryanair flight and tickets to see a full show? I've not looked at ticket prices for the shows so may be way off the mark with that! The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits0 -

Yeah I know it's all about demand etc but it's so sad, the announcement Download Festival announcement said it was SPECIAL but didn't give them headline pfft...
I don't know too much about them, but they have been playing the same set?
They will play a proper show, Faith No More and tonnes of other bands have announced UK dates despite saying it's exclusive. A flight to Amsterdam from East Midlands is £20!0 -

Pretty much the same set, yeah. Friends have seen them at multiple festivals and won't bother any more.
That's ridiculously cheap for a flight! The "special" in the announcement I think is probably putting a limit on what they can announce, i.e. once day tickets are sold above a certain percentage they can announce a night at Hammersmith, Brixton or Wembley (can't see it being anywhere other than those three). So not exclusivity but keeping it to seeming like a one-off type thing. If that makes any sense! The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits0 -
Will they definitely be doing day tickets? I'm not really that fussed about the first two days, but Soundgarden and Sabbath is a pretty good proposition.0

download always does day tickets
they just don't go on sale until they judge how many weekend tickets they've sold
i'll be hoping to get a sunday day ticket now2006 - Astoria, Dublin, Leeds
2007 - London
2009 - London, Manchester, London
2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London
2011 - Alpine Valley x2

That's cool, I've only been for the weekend before....I know some festivals don't bother with day tickets. Still holding out for a London date though.0

I really hope they add a London date...Or at least some Download day tickets! They haven't played England since 1996 so it would be a real shame to just do a festival date!0
-
I can totally understand why they're taking a nice pay-day at Download, but I won't be going. Fingers firmly crossed for a UK arena date...0

Yeah I can understand why they're doing it from their point of view...But just to do a festival date after a 16 year absence would be lame!0 -

The Prodigy couldn't pack out the second stage in 2009.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

There is not a chance that they'll do an arena like Wembley. They're not popular or big enough.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

Yep I was thinking that the other day, what choice of venues has SG got? Our arenas are too big for them. Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo though are 5000 capacity... just about right I reckon? They're playing Le Zenith in Paris which is 6000.0 -
I reckon they'll do a gig at Brixton Academy. The calendar for June is blank on their website, so I reckon they'll do a night there either before or after Download Festival.
I won't see them at a festival. It's too expensive these days and the sets are way too short.
I've been to Reading twelve times, Glastonbury once, Sonisphere once, Download twice and V once before. The prices have just gone silly and I won't keep paying it.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

I wouldn't want to see them in Wembley as the sound is usually pretty shit! They seem to be playing similar sized places to their 96 European tour...i.e. they played Le Zenith...So As they're playing Le Zenith this time surely they could do Brixton too?0
