I'm a bit nervous...it's one of my favorite books and we all know what movies do to SK novels. I'm really excited to see the painting though. I was actually at a hotel once and I swear in our hotel room there was a painting that came straight from the book...I kept waiting for it to move!!!

    Underrated book for sure.

I'll keep my hopes up. But yes, sadly the movie industry has failed miserably when it comes to adapting his books, especially the horror stories. Sometimes things that sound cool on the page don't translate very well.

I am really looking forward to Bag of Bones on AMC. That is one of my favorites.

    I am getting it tomorrow.

Stephen King was in Dallas last night for a speaking engagement but it was sold out. He is in a Dallas suburb tonight and that is sold out too.

There have been some good ones. I wish they would remake a few like Pet Sematary. Handled correctly, that would be a very effective film.

I've noticed too that some of the best translations of his work come from short stories - I've always thought that Stand By Me and Shawshank were the absolute best adaptations. There's not a lot of pop for Apt Pupil, but I do think they did a really great job with that too. (When he put that SS uniform on and started marching I got goosebumps everywhere!) With his novels, it's like there's too much to fit into 2 1/2 hours so readers get disappointed. Of course The Stand and It were great as miniseries, and they may look cheesy now but that was the technology they had to work with when they were filmed. HBO and Showtime really seem like the right places to put on DT and Under the Dome so I do have high expectations for those. I would love to see more adaptations of his short stories - The Monkey and Survivor Type come to mind.

I really like Hearts in Atlantis and thought the movie was pretty good as well. I'm honestly trying to remember what the Regulators was aboput and I can't.

Have you read the Dark Tower series?

I still need to Read Under the Dome and Full Dark No Stars.
    Alright, alright, alright!

YES read Hearts in Atlantis! I have a few friends that aren't really into SK but love this collection.

As far as The Regulators...you should read it before or after Desperation. Both books have the same characters, but they have different personalities in each book and the circumstances are quite different. The way the 2 books play to each other really had my interest piqued and they're actually 2 of my faves from him.
