I'm still reading "Under the Dome" (unfortunately I'm right in the middle of, like, 10 different books) and enjoying it. I also began reading the Dark Half series earlier this year (currently reading Waste Lands) and really enjoying it. Not sure what took me so long to begin reading this series but glad that I have.

I cannot freakin'
BELIEVE I forgot about
It!
Absolutely righteous call, my friend.
I even have the lousy,
made-for-TV miniseries starring
the likes of
John Ritter,
Harry Anderson,
that dude from the Waltons,
+ Tim Curry as Pennywise!
Cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.
I've got major love for all his Bachman works too - The Long Road is probably one of the creepiest books I've ever read and definitely one of my favorites!

This one is severely underrated, in my opinion. A great read!
There's also another Dark Tower book called "The Wind through the Keyhole" coming out early next year, in March or April I think. I know they moved it up a month. It takes place between DT IV and V.

I can't wait for this!! I'm still on pins and needles about the movie/show/screen version. I really really wish it would be picked up by like HBO or Showtime.

I have it on order from Amazon and it should be here in the next few days. bad timing on my part because I am about 400 or so pages into Under the Dome so I won't be able to crack into the new one for a little bit.

I pre-ordered it so I'm hoping to get it sometime this week. I'm in the middle of the PJ20 book so I won't be able to start 11/22/63 until then, I better hustle up!
What do you think of Under the Dome so far? I just read that Showtime picked it up!!!

Loving it. The characters are amazing and all have very interesting storylines. I can easily see this being a mini series due to the detailed storylines. I am about 1/3 of the way through it and I think only 2 days have passed in the book. It's pretty crazy. A page-turner for sure.

Yeah it reads really fast. I remember in the author's note at the end, King said he consciously worked on keeping the pace up. It reads faster than his other books which is good because it is effing long!
My favorite is Salem's Lot, although honorable mentions go to Pet Sematery, the Shining, and the Green Mile. I still am terrified by Salem's Lot. The Stand is awesome too, but damn long.
I'm a bit nervous...it's one of my favorite books and we all know what movies do to SK novels. I'm really excited to see the painting though. I was actually at a hotel once and I swear in our hotel room there was a painting that came straight from the book...I kept waiting for it to move!!!

I'll keep my hopes up. But yes, sadly the movie industry has failed miserably when it comes to adapting his books, especially the horror stories. Sometimes things that sound cool on the page don't translate very well.
I am really looking forward to Bag of Bones on AMC. That is one of my favorites.
Shawshank Redemption
Stand By Me
The Green Mile

There have been some good ones. I wish they would remake a few like Pet Sematary. Handled correctly, that would be a very effective film.
I've noticed too that some of the best translations of his work come from short stories - I've always thought that Stand By Me and Shawshank were the absolute best adaptations. There's not a lot of pop for Apt Pupil, but I do think they did a really great job with that too. (When he put that SS uniform on and started marching I got goosebumps everywhere!) With his novels, it's like there's too much to fit into 2 1/2 hours so readers get disappointed. Of course The Stand and It were great as miniseries, and they may look cheesy now but that was the technology they had to work with when they were filmed. HBO and Showtime really seem like the right places to put on DT and Under the Dome so I do have high expectations for those. I would love to see more adaptations of his short stories - The Monkey and Survivor Type come to mind.
