somebody asked a question, and the next reporter asked if he could provide a little more color on the answer.

    stern says no.

next question is, do you think you can resolve this by monday with the poeple in the room

    David says yes

his assistant than deadpans, could you add a little color on that.

    1. Howard to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum and two first-round picks: This has been the most rumored deal in various incarnations, and it hasn’t happened because Jim Buss doesn’t want to trade Bynum anywhere, for anyone. But with new coach Mike Brown on the sidelines and Kobe Bryant finally starting to show some wear and tear, now is the time.

The Magic can’t do any better than this. They get back the only center who can stay in a discussion with Howard, allowing them the flexibility to continue to play inside-out or entirely rebuild their roster around Bynum, whose health issues are definitely a concern. It also allows them to keep a good coach on the sidelines instead of placating a prima donna.

ODDS: 10-1. Can’t see this deal expanded to include Lamar Odom or Ron Artest, although Matt Barnes could be a throw-in. Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Superman – the tradition continues. Just do it already.

if this deal goes through - it will definitely be a fraud ... orchestrated by the nba to keep propping up the lakers ... the gasol deal was a fraud ... this would be worse ...

    Nice!

Of course it all could fall apart like last week but it's the first glimmer of hope I've had and I'd rather hear it from some of the writers I know than some of the players/owners.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, and I agree... I'd much rather hear it from some of the writers than either of the sides.

Don't have a clue, just know it's over, had plans with sixers buddies who had to cancel.

cool ... mixed feelings ... happy for the fans and those whose livelihood depends on the nba but a year of spoiled owners and players not making the money they are used to appealed to me as well ... plus the raptors weren't gonna do anything this year anyways ...

Definitely not official, but official enough for the Sixers to call a Friday evening meeting for the sales staff.

trying to sell Sixers tickets has to be one of the 5 toughest jobs in sports

I did for a while but I concentrated on group sales which was a whole lot easier (lots of benefits to offer) than season ticket sales. Season ticket sales are a brutal sale for them.

This has to be wrapped up pretty quickly, no way they call these people in tonight if it wasn't nearly certain.

Labor talks between NBA owners and players broke down Friday, just one day after both sides expressed optimism they were close to an agreement that could save the league’s 2011-12 season.

The impasse once again centered on the split of revenue or basketball-related income between the league’s owners and players. One source told Yahoo! Sports that the BRI split was only “partly” responsible for the breakdown in talks. The two sides also “couldn’t agree on the final pieces of the system.”

Given the progress owners and players have made this week, both sides could try to regroup and again resume talks before too long.
