he also mentions pearl jam in 'desperation' (can't remember exactly what's said) and eddie vedder in 'the regulators'. that one he says there's a poster of eddie vedder on a wall, and a bullet tears through his chest.9/1/00, 9/2/00, 9/3/00, 12/31/00, 3/2/01, 4/29/01, 6/21/01, 7/25/01, 8/31/01, 9/1/01, 9/2/01, 4/18/02, 8/30/02, 8/31/02, 8/31/02, 9/1/02, 9/22/02, 3/22/03, 5/6/03, 6/29/03, 8/29/03, 8/30/03, 8/30/03, 8/31/03, 2/21/04, 4/2/04, 4/3/04, 9/3/04, 9/4/04, 9/4/04, 9/5/04, 2/19/05, 7/22/05, 9/2/05, 9/3/05, 9/3/05, 9/4/05, 1/22/06, 6/7/06, 9/1/06, 9/2/06, 9/2/06, 9/3/06, 7/6/07, 8/31/07, 9/1/07, 9/1/07, 9/2/07, 3/7/08, 8/29/08, 8/30/08, 8/30/08, 8/31/08, 7/11/09, 6/4/10, 6/11/110 -

wow, i never thought i would find someone that would say gerald's game was his worst. i thought he did a great job writing from the female perspective.
personally, my least favorite was cell. and it fooled me, too. it started off great, then kind of just dragged on and i wasn't crazy about the ending. also, the ending of needful things just kind of......ends. abruptly. wasn't crazy about that, but still thought the book was really good overall.
he's got a new novella coming out on 4/20: 'blockade billy'. here's the synopsis:

Maybe he did an ok job writing from a female perspective. I didn't really think so though. I hated the book. Read it once, will never read it again, which is saying a lot cause I tend to re-read most of his.
Agree with you about cell though. Started to read it and put it down. Just couldn't get through it.
The good thing about his novels, is that usually, with but a couple of exceptions, you can pick one up, and know that you'll be getting a great read, cover to cover. Not too many authors you give you something that close to a guarantee, so I don't hold the couple I don't like against him!0 -
I didnt think Cell was one of his better works, but what an easy read. I believe the book came out like he intended.0

It is more old school King, where the town is sort of the main character instead of any one person. I liked it.
Flagg is right. I enjoyed it a lot."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Also, if you haven't checked out the graphic novel/comics for Dark Tower and the Stand, you should. The artwork alone is amazing. The Dark Tower starts off true to the story (the Roland/Susan backstory) and takes off from there filling in. The Stand is more of a literal translation of the book, but very enjoyable thus far in the series. There is a Talisman one too, but I haven't gotten that into it yet.
Count me as someone who was very disappointed in Under the Dome. First 3/4 were spectacular, classic King. But the ending... without spoiling/getting into a discussion of it, I'll just say that I thought it sucked.
Just as I finished writing this, Pet Sematary by the Ramones came on the ipod... coincidence?
I was dissapointed with what was really going on with Under the Dome and the end, but it was such a good read for 900 plus pages that I can forgive the ending."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

I don't really know, it's been so long since I read them. But I read a whole lot of them in the 90's and early 00's. My favorites are probably his short story collections, but if we're talking novels it's probably...

I just Full Dark, No Stars. Probably one of the best short story books of his I have read. I read it as often as I could because I didn't want to stop. Big Driver was probably my favorite story in the book. This guy could fall asleep on the keyboard and it would be entertaining to read what was written. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Wow, this is cool. I am holding off on reading this until PJ20 comes in a couple weeks. I figure I can breeze through that in a couple weeks and then start Under the Dome. I've had it for a couple months now but have been putiing off starting it. It's a little intimidating being 1,000+ pages long.He who forgets will be destined to remember.

When I first read this I thought you were saying you were putting it off until after PJ20 the concert. I was like, it's this weekend! You're gonna miss it!
Under the Dome is a pretty fast read for being so long. King mentioned he tried to keep it fast paced."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Not sure if I'm particularly sold on the plot of this one."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
