Ive been sitting at 19 PEARL JAM shows since last May.

Even though Im going to see Ed next Saturday in Minnesota, PJ20 will be my 20th and 21st time seeing PEARL JAM - Mike, STone, Ed, Jeff and Matt all together.

And I'll have seen EDDIE Edward Louis Severson III/Mueller VEDDER, count it, ONCE.

I do agree with the OP. Even though I do list the two EV shows in my sig, I do not consider them Pearl Jam shows. They are still awesome as hell though!

Its kind of like all the people who didn't have the chance to see Phish before they broke up. For all those "hiatus" years people tried to see every Trey, Mike, Page, or Fishman show in hope that they would hear some Phish tunes. However, none of those shows were Phish. Fortunately for all those fans they reunited.

I guess the whole point of the topic is this: Does it really matter??

Okay, you've seen Ed play Around the Bend at a solo show. You cannot say you saw Pearl Jam play Around the Bend, because you didn't. Fun little debate here.

I like this argument I guess. Yes you have heard the song live, but not by the full band at a Pearl Jam show. I would still considered it having heard the song with an asterisk

Ha. Do what you want. I try to see Pearl Jam in as many states as possible. I've seen Ed in California and Tennessee but not Pearl Jam. Sometimes I count CA and TN and sometimes I don't.

Who's saying it does count? I wouldn't think it's even an argument.

This guy for one - If I bother to list my shows I'm listing Eddie AND Tres Mts. Deal with it.

Alright folks. No they don't count as Pearl Jam shows. But I'm proud to have gone to them and would happily list them in my scant number of shows.

i would say that ev solo shows are not pearl jam shows and should be counted seperately. so i've seen pj 45 times, ed 5 times solo, tres mts once, brad once, and three fish (jeff's side band) once. lol

i think if ed does play a pearl jam song at a ed solo show than you can say that you heard ed sing it, but you can't cross it off your pearl jam list.
so at the beacon theatre i heard for the first time in 6 years long road. but it was sung by ed; so i haven't heard pearl jam play long road since '05.

    whoa, confusing.

    Exactly. Who gives a shit???
  • Obviously some people do 'give a shit.' It's just a topic of debate like any other topics discussed here. There are plenty of topics I don't care about and don't bother posting. I suggest you do the same. There is some good points raised by either side which was all I intended by starting the thread. That and expressing my opinion. No harm, no foul. ;)

45 eh? Lucky man, I'm gonna hit 30 on September 15th! Ed solo twice, and all the other side bands - zero!

But I am going to see Matt's side band July 2nd. I think they're called Soundgarden?!?!

Agree with the OP, and if you didn't hear ARC in 2003 at one of the 9 shows it was played at, then you never will hear it at a PJ show!
  • who is saying it counts as a PJ show? I put all PJ-related shows in my sig. If I happened to see Stone, or Tres Mts, then I'd put those too.

    who cares?

  • So, who's keeping count of counting pearl jam shows and Ed shows again? Is there one all mighty show counter that I'm unaware of?

I don't know how many PJ showed I've been to, but I've seen Ed three times. So do I add 3 to my unknown PJ count or not?

Oh, can I add two more for seeing The Who since Ed played with them?

I don't think it's a huge deal, certainly nothing to argue over... but it can be fun for some ppl to debate, I guess. So why lock the thread? Just don't read it if you're not interested.

Whenever I tell someone my total, I generally say, "I've been to (x-amount of) PJ/EV shows," (currently 40). I put it that way, frankly, because the number always sounds better, haha ;)! But if they then ask me to break it down, I know the numbers separately, and I respect them as 2 completely different totals.

Similarly, my 1st show was Jones Beach 2000... so even though I say my 1st PJ song was Long Road, I also say that my 1st EV song was Dead Man (Ed pre-opened with it that night). :D
