Ed solo does NOT count as a Pearl Jam show!

We're counting?
So, can I include my shows going back to the 70s?

If you saw Brad, Tres Mts. or Flight to Mars would you count those? I know Ed plays PJ songs but if the rest of the band isn't there playing along, it is not Pearl Jam. Ed won't even say the words 'Pearl Jam' during his shows, he says 'that band I'm in.' Which reinforces my point. I've seen Ed solo twice and they were both incredible awe inspiring performances, but in no way would I count them as Pearl Jam shows.
IMO!

I got to see Around The Bend and Immortality for the first time during the Chicago shows...and you'd better believe I'm counting them.
Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -

Ha Ha - glad you added IMO at the end. Your an ass, IMO. Thanks for the lesson. IMO this was a wate of a post - did you not get tickets to a solo show?? Are you upset?? Yes we realize Ed is not a group- as a "group" means more than 1. Eddie however is PJ as is Mike, Stone, Boooooooooon, Jeff - they have earned that right after 20 years. If Jeff plays instrumental Porch at a venue- I'll say I heard Porch! Great Post- now why don't you cry about why your seats are not satisfactory enough at the next show.
And in my opinion your an ass. And my seats are just awesome thanks! My # is 110*** so I'm not upset at all. Ignorance and stupidity just piss me off I guess. I'm not trying to say that my opinion is any more important than yours, so thanks for your feed back. It was not a lesson, just facts that I stated. Count seeing PJ cover bands if you want, I could care a less, but you're only cheating yourself. EDDIE VEDDER SOLO IS NOT A PEARL JAM SHOW! DEAL WITH IT!
IMO!!!!

Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder are different.
Interesting that people think otherwise.
I have seen Eric Clapton in concert but have never seen Cream... This makes sense, right?
I've seen Eric Clapton and Cream but still wouldn't count the Clapton cream solo songs as cream.
But what about Derek and the Dominoes songs? If Greg Allman is on stage does it count? And what about when Winwood played with him? Can I count that as a Blind Faith concert? And of course, if John Mayall joins him, but not the other Blues Breakers, can I count that band?
I'm getting really confused by all this. I need to update my Excel spreadsheet with which song counts for which band, and until now I thought I had it straight. But, this whole EV/Pearl Jam thing has thrown me off.
Now, I'm worried about this one - if I shook Eddie's hand after an EV concert, am I allowed to tell people that I shook the hand of the lead singer of Pearl Jam? Or, do I have to specifiy that I "only" shook the hand of Eddie Vedder b/c his bandmates weren't entering the tour bus with him at the time? And if I slip and say the Pearl Jam thing, what's my punisment? Do people start calling me a bad or "not real" fan as if I yelled out at the "wrong" time at a concert? These things keep me up at night, so I'd like someone (of authority - I'm assuming this would have to be someone dual carded as both a concert and Pearl Jam "officer") to provide me answers.
This is a GREAT topic.
Awesome response!

EV-STL sure felt like it counted!

Even though Im going to see Ed next Saturday in Minnesota, PJ20 will be my 20th and 21st time seeing PEARL JAM - Mike, STone, Ed, Jeff and Matt all together.
And I'll have seen EDDIE Edward Louis Severson III/Mueller VEDDER, count it, ONCE.
And this guy!

And just so I'm clear; this was never about song counts. If Ed plays Around the Bend solo and you want to say you heard it live, then obviously you did. My whole point was and is that I think it's wrong and disrespectful to the rest of the band to go to an Eddie Vedder solo show (and you can tell you're at one because your ticket will say EDDIE VEDDER, the t-shirts and posters will say EDDIE VEDDER and you will notice that Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt and Boom are NOT THERE!) and say it was the same thing as seeing Pearl Jam live.
The closest any of these shows ever came to being a PJ show was when Mike joined Ed for Ledbetter on the first leg of his first solo tour. Other than that, Ed has never played a PJ song that he didn't write the words and music too except for that one time. He has never played Alive, Daughter, Nothingman, Smile, Low Light, Thin Air, You Are, Parachutes or The Fixer. I guess you could argue that Light Years was pretty close, but Ed was still the primary songwriter.
IMO Ed is trying to keep the two things separate from one another. Like I said before he won't even say the words Pearl Jam at his shows. I just think fans should too.

Now, say you heard PJ play an acoustic version of a song at a PJ concert. Does this count as hearing the song? Ha.0

So how does your logic apply to a song like Dead man? most the band played on it, yet it's only ever ed plays it.
Ed's principal writer for Parting Ways, Around the bend, Long Road, Off he goes.
if i see ed play these on a shoestring and a bassbox and a matchstick orchestra, as long as he's singing the words? I can say i saw those songs live.0 -
can I count it if I was there but stared at the screen of my phone while I record the whole show?Memorial Stadium, Seattle - Jul 21 22, 1998
Key Arena - Nov 05, 2000
Gorge Amphitheater - Sep 01, 2005, Jul 22,23, 2006

Can you read? I said that you are free to count what you want, go nuts! The whole thread is about the difference between Pearl Jam shows and Ed's solo shows. These semantics are a result of people only reading what they want to read. Your post makes NO sense.0 -

Havent posted on this topic yet... been thinking about it... Im on 29 PJ shows and 3 ED shows...
IMO for what its worth...( not much i know ha)
I count it... I dont think its disrespectful to the rest of the band... The band members are so into their own and their band members side projects I think the Point of the "PEARL JAM FAMILY" is that they really consider the whole group... including even us the fans as part of their family... when Ed is on Tour or Tres Mts or Brad... they are all representing and in most cases playing to the PJ Family... So fuck it... we are all 1 big happy group... I count it...1998 Tour- Hartford 9/13
2000 Tour- Saratoga 8/27 Boston 8/29, 8/30
2003 Tour- Albany 4/29 Boston 7/2,7/3,7/11 Philadelphia 7/5,7/6 MSG 7/8,7/9

2006 Tour- Albany 5/12 Hartford 5/13 Boston 5/24,5/25
2008 Tour- MSG 6/24,6/25 Hartford 6/27 Boston 6/28,6/30 Eddie- Boston 8/1

Mine doesn't? your premise is that it's disrespectful for a guy to play *his own songs* just 'cos he's in a band and they don't happen to be there? that's ridiculous..
you're a drummer aren't you?
