Ed solo does NOT count as a Pearl Jam show!

Am I the only one who thinks it's ludicrous to count EV solo shows in a list of Pearl Jam shows attended? Was Stone, Jeff, Mike or Matt there? If you saw Brad, Tres Mts. or Flight to Mars would you count those? I know Ed plays PJ songs but if the rest of the band isn't there playing along, it is not Pearl Jam. Ed won't even say the words 'Pearl Jam' during his shows, he says 'that band I'm in.' Which reinforces my point. I've seen Ed solo twice and they were both incredible awe inspiring performances, but in no way would I count them as Pearl Jam shows.

    I would however, consider it hearing a Pearl Jam song if it is played though.

    I mean if I hear Parting Ways I will consider that song knocked off my list!

    To the OP, I couldn't agree more. People who think Ed is PJ need to get a clue.

    Nope. You would have then heard Ed play a PJ song, so dont knock it off your list. I have, however, seen parting ways played by PJ. ;)

    While I agree with this argument, what happens if you are at a Pearl Jam show and during the first encore, Ed comes out solo and plays The End, or Just Breathe, or Masters of War. Can you knock those of the list if the rest of the band wasn't on the stage while it was played?

    My point exactly. If I hear a Pearl Jam song by a member of Pearl Jam then I have heard it!!

    Check your ticket stub; if it says Pearl Jam then you saw Pearl Jam. If it says Eddie Vedder then you saw Eddie Vedder. Pretty simple.

    My theory on this has been if it is played during a Pearl Jam show, then it counts. If it is Ed coming out to do a song before the opener, then it doesn't. But I could see an argument for both to be included since it is a Pearl Jam event and not a solo concernt event.

    Yep! But he wouldn't since it isn't one of his songs. Now Sweet Lew, yeah. Though I have actually heard that one played both times it's been played

    Ive been sitting at 19 PEARL JAM shows since last May.

    Even though Im going to see Ed next Saturday in Minnesota, PJ20 will be my 20th and 21st time seeing PEARL JAM - Mike, STone, Ed, Jeff and Matt all together.

    And I'll have seen EDDIE Edward Louis Severson III/Mueller VEDDER, count it, ONCE.

    I do agree with the OP. Even though I do list the two EV shows in my sig, I do not consider them Pearl Jam shows. They are still awesome as hell though!

    Its kind of like all the people who didn't have the chance to see Phish before they broke up. For all those "hiatus" years people tried to see every Trey, Mike, Page, or Fishman show in hope that they would hear some Phish tunes. However, none of those shows were Phish. Fortunately for all those fans they reunited.

    I like this argument I guess. Yes you have heard the song live, but not by the full band at a Pearl Jam show. I would still considered it having heard the song with an asterisk :mrgreen:

    Ha. Do what you want. I try to see Pearl Jam in as many states as possible. I've seen Ed in California and Tennessee but not Pearl Jam. Sometimes I count CA and TN and sometimes I don't.

    Alright folks. No they don't count as Pearl Jam shows. But I'm proud to have gone to them and would happily list them in my scant number of shows.

    i would say that ev solo shows are not pearl jam shows and should be counted seperately. so i've seen pj 45 times, ed 5 times solo, tres mts once, brad once, and three fish (jeff's side band) once. lol

    i think if ed does play a pearl jam song at a ed solo show than you can say that you heard ed sing it, but you can't cross it off your pearl jam list.
    so at the beacon theatre i heard for the first time in 6 years long road. but it was sung by ed; so i haven't heard pearl jam play long road since '05.

    whoa, confusing.
    I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
