    greg maddux struck a lot of guys out too. I guess he was a power pitcher too

    I think contreras may be done. They were saying his season could be over last time he went to the DL. They need bullpen help too. In a playoff series they could be down to madson, stutes, and bastardo as their only competent relievers...and two of those guys are still mostly untested in playoff situations (bastardo has some experience). I'm not counting on lidge giving them anything this year.

    and polanco in the 5 spot just doesn't work. 138/212/276 from that spot in the lineup. horrible. the guy should never be hitting in the middle of the order

    unless he retires, which i doubt he will, we couldn't use that money. right? :? i think a josh willingham type player is all we need anway.

    shut him down. with any luck he can contribute down the stretch. thank god we have young clifton.

    3-3 on this trip. left 5 games up. coming back 4 up. not bad. hopefully the phils can beat up on the a's this weekend before those turds from boston come to town.
