"Conservatives at CPAC in February raved about Trump's criticism of America's reputation in the world, and responded favorably to his penchant for telling it like it is. Meanwhile polls continue to turn up that many Republican voters also doubt Obama's birthplace--an outlier issue that has allowed Trump to pick up additional traction within the GOP base by positioning himself as a heroic truth-teller with the courage to challenge a vast liberal-media conspiracy to conceal the true circumstances of Obama's birth. "

seriously, how many people out there are actually buying this?

From what you posted in this thread, mamasan, you place money, image and elitism as priorities and basically that's what you like about Trump. There's something seriously wrong with placing these superficial qualities as worthy candidate qualities of the POTUS.

all you need to know is that he/she doesn't believe obama was born in the US ... or at the very least, supports a candidate who doesn't believe obama was born in the US ...

Man, I seriously don't like many things about Obama, but is this tired old argument really making Trump look anything less than ridiculous?

My sentiments exactly. Even Krauthammer sees Trump as a joke.

This is a scary statement on where we are as a society. Most people know Trump as the host of a relaity TV show, and that is what will get him elected. Idiocracy, here we come!!! (Or, as "gimmesometruth" has agreed, we may be already there!).

it got Arnold elected to gov.
If trump by some wierd marical got elected I'd bet with in 6 months he'd be in a nut house..well these days the white house is a nut house.

your right about that but no offense to you I just don't think he could be a president of this country, it's alot different than running a business with total control, a president can't have total control and that's what Donald
works with and has grown used to....but it would be interesting to see.

A couple of my friends were discussing Trump possibly getting the GOP nod and seemed to be behind the idea of him running ... I asked them if they were concerned about putting their vote behind a man that has gone bankrupt on several occasions, is a reality TV star, and looks like a muskrat died on his head ... they responded that Ronald Reagan was once a B-star and became a great president ...

Long story short, things got a little heated when I tried to explain that Trump was using this for good publicity or that his ego has exploded and he is officially nuts. And also if the GOP supported them, they would be officially nuts because Trump must have so much baggage that it would be a field day for bloggers (possibly the craziest of all people) and team Obama. I got some stink-eye as result and decided to let the issue rest since we were having a few beers and having a good time. At least they were not talking about a Newt / Palin ticket.

Polling numbers don't mean much right now. Wait another 6-8 months, and then we'll see where we stand.

I personally Trump is doing all this to pump up his image and line his pockets. Mark my words, he will be an afterthought come primary time. How can anyone say the stupid sh*t he does and get away with it? Well, I guess because our country is full of stupid people.

If anyone did some research and looked into it, they will come to discover that Obama was born in Hawaii. But, they'll just keep spewing the same, "where's his birth certificate"?. How about we ask all the idiots who believe that where their birth certificate is? Trump didn't even know where his was. Just another example of the dumbing down of America.

Exactly. Government isn't business and success in one does not mean success in the other. The guy's done well in business, but would be a horrible president. His 'fuck you' attitude towards other nations will get him absolutely nowhere, the man doesn't have an ounce of respect for anybody but himself.

Our government should be run more like a business. If we didn't have wealth as a country, we probably wouldn't enjoy the freedom to discuss who our next leader should be anyway.

you could argue it already is run like a business, in that they are always looking at ways to increase revenue.

they just do a shitty job of allowing too much waste to occur.

you can sign it capitalist, but the US has long moved past capitalism and into greedyism. it's all about how much money you can snag now. why do you think so many jobs have moved to India/china, tawain, etc etc etc??? greed.

i'd tax the shit out of imports to pull the jobs back to the US. world love be damned.

In what kind of ways should it be run more like a business?

So when economic times are tough.. we should... what... downsize? Fire Americans? Maybe just outsource them?

Eliminate their citizenship and deport them to... where?

    Yeah. That's a workable idea.

How about being lean and efficient?

How about making the tax code more user friendly?

How about making people work for their welfare checks? Last time I checked there was plenty of work to be done cleaning roadways, beaches, parks etc.

there are so many so called "private sector" companies that wouldn't be 1/2 as successful or even in existence without their huge government contracts. they sure are going to be pissed when that spending stops.

On President Bill Clinton vs. President Trump?
