I only wish you were educated enough to grasp the absolute irony in that poorly-spelled, punctuated and capitalized sentence where you mangle the English language and prove that the only people who would support a turd like Trump are... well... people with little to no education.

it is a very sad day in this country when donald trump is actually leading some polls for the gop nomination.

WTF has happened to the grand old party?

this is proof that the dumbing down of america is on an irreversible road.

    Exactly, and well said.

Far too few Americans understand even the basic workings of government and far too many cast their votes based on popularity, looks, "charm", "charisma" etc. Elections have become little more than political versions of "American Idol " *

Another thing to think about: What do other countries think of the U.S.-- that we would even simply entertain ideas such as the possibility of Trump, Palin etc. becoming president? :?

*Maybe somebody can replace this with a better metaphor since my knowledge of such shows is hearsay- I don't spend my time watching this sort of thing.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

Donald Trump will never be President.
Ron Paul will never be President.
Dennis Kucinich will never be President.
Ralph Nader will never be President.

Are there any other perennial candidates I'm missing?

Trump has never really been serious about running for President, or about anything that doesn't serve his ego. He couldn't survive a primary in any state even if he tried to, and I think he's smart enough not to try. This is just a bigger, better orchestrated publicity stunt that the other times he's thrown his name out there.

love this post! But why not him?

I just think there's too much of a circus atmosphere that surrounds him. The really sad part in all this is, you have NO ONE else who even comes close to representing these same principles. You have Romney, practically a robot, Huckabee who I really just don't care for, and there's no way Palin has a snowball's chance of ever doing anything. The only other slight possibility would be Herman Cain, but he'd have about as much of a chance as McCain did. Really there is no one at all who is electable.

I guess I'm just too damn picky. If I had an ideal candidate, they would have at least some of the following characteristics:

    1) Write their own damn speeches, and be competent enough to speak off the cuff. Lincoln could do it, and had less than 2 years of formal education.

    2) Support a tax overhaul. Either move forward with a proposed national sales tax (with a cap rate), or reform corporate tax code that prevents sheltering money outside of the US. This would prevent mega corporations from withholding the billions of dollars in taxes, that every other small corporation in this country is forced to pay.

    3) Bring home our troops. Stop policing the world, and if you're going to get involved, then be consistent. If you're going to go after tyrants, lets start in Africa. Instead of spending billions of dollars rebuilding Afghanistan and Iraq, how about we use the same money to build fresh water lines and supply simple medicine for those in rural African villages. It may sound stupid, but I seriously thank God sometimes when I'm brushing my teeth at night, and I'm able to turn a handle and get fresh clean water out of the faucet. Ok, sorry to ramble on this one.

    4) Secure our borders. There's nothing racist about that. When you are dealing with drug lords and possible terrorist threats, it's stupid to leave the door open for them. I've got no problem having the military patrol and protect our borders. I'd rather them do this than having them stationed all over the world protecting other borders.

    5) Stop subsidizing oil, support a ban on oil being traded as a public commodity and create incentives for companies who invest in the research and development of alternative energy for both industry and transportation.

These are just a few, and there are many others I can think of right now, but I gotta get back to work. :)

You can't be serious about Trump. Like really.

Though I'd love to see a Trump/Palin debate. And for my money, Clinton was the best of the last 35 years.

the other 3 guys have some semblance of integrity ... in order to occupy the oval office - you need to be able to sell your grandmother for $3 and a bag of popcorn ... trump fits that ...

he can easily win the gop nomination for the sole fact that his name is recognizable ... his credibility, policies and experience are totally irrelevant to the gop masses ...

what i find funny is that the introduction of trump makes palin's run less likely ... as they are after the same folks ...

Palin has no chance in hell and i think we all agree. There is a chance however that Trump could have her as a VP just to try and scoop the social conservatives since he has a good grip on the fiscal conservatives.

Myself, I am a fiscal conservative. Not into the religion, the pro-life and all that jazz. But, unfortunatly in order to win, a republican has to pretend to be on their team. One of the problems of a two party system. You have to suck up to all sorts of shit you don't agree with to get the votes.

I should have named this thread "Trump has some nads"

    Interview from Sunday on CNN

What about Libya? “Either I’d go in and take the oil or I don’t go in at all,” Trump said. When Crowley reacted with disbelief at what she’d just heard, Trump doubled down. “Absolutely, I’d take the oil, I’d give them plenty so they can live very happily. I would take the oil. You know, in the old days when you have a war and you win, that nation’s yours.”

What about his opponents? It seems that size matters, in terms of their bank accounts. Trump trumpets himself as a better businessman than Romney, claiming that “my net worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney.”

Moving right along, how does Trump see one of the central strands of American history, the issue of race? He believes he should get support from African Americans, he said in a radio interview last week, but is unsettled by “frightening” polls that show the vast majority of black voters favoring Obama. “I have a great relationship with the blacks,” Trump said. “I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.”

Yes, he said “the blacks.” Twice.

Trump hasn’t been a particularly loyal Republican over the years. At various times, he’s given political donations to Democrats such as Rep. Charlie Rangel, Sen. John Kerry, Vice President Biden and the late Ted Kennedy.
  • My aunty is Bahamian and hates the term African American cos it implies she's African (yes I know, Bahamian's are still African..but she's adamant about it..). I know other's who are Hatian, or Venezuelan, or Dominican, Trini, and Jamaican who also don't like 'African American,' preferring to just be called black. So I see nothing wrong with his wording.

totally agree with the term black being okay to use, however, there is something condescending to me about putting "the" in front of any generalization.

"the" gays, "the" blacks...I don't know, I am not all that sensitive to things like that, but it always jars me a little when I hear groups described that way.

Maybe this interview was shortly after his roast and Lisa Lampanelli rubbed off on him a bit!

You lack quite a lot of faith in the American people then, if you really think that. Okay, I know that George W Bush was elected (sorta) but he at least tried his best to appear like a nice respectful fellow. Trump wears his asshole badge on his sleeve.

The other three that I mentioned, though I pretty much respect all of them, are just too out of the mainstream to be elected, and none of them have that "regular guy" quality that one would need to be elected. Trump is out of the mainstream in his own way, though he's rich enough to swim there.

The Donalds wallet is made from Chupacbra leather and he can climb a cactus with ease.

In a deposition when asked about his net worth:

Trump: My net worth fluctuates, and it goes up and down with the markets and with attitudes and with feelings, even my own feelings, but I try.

Ceresney: Let me just understand that a little. You said your net worth goes up and down based upon your own feelings?
Trump: Yes, even my own feelings, as to where the world is, where the world is going, and that can change rapidly from day to day …
