A few years ago I found a notebook from 5th grade that had band names written all over it. The ones I remember were Pearl Jam (of course), STP, RATM, and Green Day. I don't listen to GD anymore but I can appreciate their early stuff.
i was almost 15, finishing up my first year of high school (the teen-angst just setting in). it would be 2 years and 4 months until my first PJ show!!!
love is all good people need....and music sets the sick ones free...
In April of 1991 I was 13 years old and in the 8th grade. Guns N' Roses was my favorite band. I did not start listening to Pearl Jam until March of 1992 when I saw them on MTV.
Stationed at Kadena AB, Okinawa waiting for June so I could go back to Korea for two more years.

Actually I was 11 and probably picking my nose or something. I didn't discover Pearl Jam until Vitalogy came out my freshman year of high school. I got my first CD player that year and I went to the store and bought Vitalogy and Green Day's "Dookie".
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
20 years old, in college, about to go to America for my year abroad, about to hear Ten, about to meet my future husband! (Didn't marry him until I was 29 though!)
I was 11, feeling a little awkward and lost in the world. I was quite a tom-boy back then. I spent a lot of time listening to music and playing video games, but we were poor and didnt have a nes, just CALECO (sp?) vision. I liked the cabbage patch kid game and frogger the best...ha ha Then we got a sega genesis and 'the sega channel' at my dad's house and I was in heaven....
Its funny that so many people here remember the details of exactly the first time they heard Ten. I don't think I can do that, but I do remember many nights, laying in bed with my walkman and jammin out. I remember being so taken by "release" and "why go"; eventually the tape got eaten up and I had to buy a new one. I made 3 copies of Ten with my dual cassette player so I wouldnt ever have that happen again. I still have at least one of those copies packed up.
Makes much more sense...

Got my first real job, my first apartment, saw a bunch of shows...some good (PJ, Neds Atomic Dustbin, The Pixies)...some bad (Jesus Jones).
I remember my first apartment in West Hollywood was rent-controlled...it was $745 for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom place. I was worried whether or not I could afford my share, which was $350!
I lived just south of the Sunset strip, so I was always walking to Tower Records and Book Soup. The House of Blues Sunset was just up the hill from me, so I could walk to shows there in about 5 minutes!
April 1991...finishing up my sophomore year of high school..a bit of a hippie geek class clown..enjoying The Doors, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin...my older brother would introduce me to Ten shortly after it's release...been listening ever since
Bailed out of college to follow the Grateful Dead around.

Heavily into the Dead and following them on the East Coast as much as possible.
I was 14 in 1991. Pearl Jam came into my world in 1992. By 1993 I was a full blown PJ addict. Still am.

I was 21. Drinking too much. Flunked out of college. Spent the summer with 6 great friends living in a 2 bedroom duplex in Springfield MO. Thought traveling to Kansas city for lollapalloza was far to go for a show.
Shit...now I'm in grad school. A teacher. Live with my husband. And travel thousands of miles for shows. My how we've grown.
Not a very good year...
My parents got divorced and I was being rebellious. My dad sent me on a two month long trip to Torquay, England to study the language. Boys did I study! I was smoking, sneaking into clubs, hanging out with the local boys, and listened to Guns n' Roses.
And I also experienced my first "real" concert that year: Metallica.
