Great thread! I was 10 years old and absolutely 100% OBSESSED with music. Before PJ it was AC/DC and Aerosmith, but after I became known as 'that Pearl Jam girl' in school. In fact, I'm still 'that Pearl Jam girl', so not much has changed for me in 20 years!!

Anyone else remember recording music videos onto VHS tapes back in the day? I found those recently and realized that Jeremy and Alive were likely to be recorded at least 3 or 4 times on just about every tape I had!

Trying to figure out who I was, trying to figure out what to be. Barely out of HS and wanted a family. 20 years later I have 27 kids.... Err... Just kidding.

I have 4 kids, 1 grand kid and am set to be married a 3rd time. I couldn't be any happier.

    This.

I'll never forget the day my friend (still best friends and PJ road trip companions) told me to come over after school and check out this band he couldn't stop listening to. The obsession hasn't stopped since.

20 years ago I was 13 years old and finishing up 7th grade. I remember coming home from a track meet and someone throwing Nirvana onto the bus tape player, and it blowing everyone's minds... We got our hands on PJ Ten shortly after that... and the rest is history.

I was 9 years old, going on 10...I think at this time 20 years ago I would have been in 4th grade...wasn't interested in music yet, that didn't happen until about 1994, and what a fantastic year for music that was! Became a PJ fan in high school, around 1998.

December 1991, I was 14 years old, living in Austin - Shopping with my best friend Ann for Christmas presents. Ran into a cassette tape in a music store: "Pearl Jam - Ten." It sounded really familiar, and my brother (and myself of course) was a huge music fan, so I bought it. The intention was to give it to him as a Christmas gift. On the way home, we popped it in to have a listen.

My brother never got the tape. I kept it. Completely fell in love. Unbeknownst to me, I had just missed their tour with RHCP that month..... but got to see them on April 28, 1992 with Swervedriver/Monster Magnet and Soundgarden at Austin City Coliseum. It was incredible! I touched Eddie's shoe when he dove into the crowd... :-D

PJ has been a staple in my life ever since... My 6 year old nephew says his favorite band is Pearl Jam, and I cannot wait to take him to his first PJ show!

High school beer party on a Friday night. Remembering someone playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and not getting why everyone was all gaga over it while they nearly wore the tape out replaying it over and over. Not too long after that, saw PJ vid on MTV, and thought it was "more Nirvana" at first - then hit another beer party and was exposed to Ten start to finish...realized it was on a whole different level than Nirvana.

Came to appreciate Nirvana after that, and can proudly say Ten was musical awakening.
