This is too funny. This reminds me of Woodstock 99 when DMX bitched that Jewel went over her set. (Joke of course).

I cant believe people waited to see him.

Actually, alot of people left. I left Phil early to see Kanye, but after waiting two hours I went to bed. I wasn't the only one. If Kanye started ontime there would have been 40k people there. Instead, he waited and only 20k people stayed for his show. And most of those people said Kanye sucked.

We also started a Kanye Sucks chant before OAR. Not to mention the numerous F*CK KANYE chants in the campground.

Nah, the board is cool the way it is (although I can sympathize, in that not everybody here digs other music I enjoy).

Getting back to this issue...I don't think it was 100 percent PJ's fault. Yea they went over their time...big deal, it happened everyday at the Roo.

It seems like Kayne's ultra-cool "set" had something to do with this too:

The delay was caused by problems setting up West's elaborate stage set, which included an interplanetary landscape of a wavy black platform with a slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above. West performed a spectacular galactic-themed concert complete with interaction with his spaceship, a disembodied female voice named Jane (a kind of sexier HAL).

wow, thats what it takes for kanye to put out a good show?

ill take PJ's stripped down good old rock and roll please.

If you pour your heart and soul into something and believe it should win which it should have then what is the problem? He has a right to think however he wants if he (along with tons of others) believe he should've won album of the year that is his right and like he said he is not crazy because noone agrees with a crazy person ALOT of people agree with the stuff Mr. West believes in...
I'm willing to bet that you like Rage Against The Machine..

I love how people on this board think it is acceptable for someone to go over their set time. I love Pearl Jam as much as the next guy but my mind really is open to other music. You should try it sometime!

I want to clear one thing up. Kanye's stage was ready to go around 3:45. He waited another 40 minutes because he was waiting for all other acts to be over before he started. The AHole wanted all the attention. What a JAGBAG.

Do you like the Flaming Lips? They are one of the most innovative rock bands that have came around in along time (and I mean talented as musicians). They not only put on a great show using their musical talent, but they also put on a show that is easy on the eyes. Same could be said for Kanye.

    along the lines of

"it's about to get glow in the dark here so the bonnaroo people wanted me to remind you to take your..."

his comment reminded me not to stick around after they finished their set.

It reminds me of when I took my wife to see Kanye as a surprise for her 30th birthday.

I can't remember what track it was but he started the damn thing about 5 times over because the video above stage was slightly out of synch with the music....THE VIDEO! - Like anyone would even notice or care except him...then he started a rant at the lighting people and his own DJ for not caring about the show and not being a perfectionist like him.

Saying that though, as a whole the show was great. :)

You know, Kanye actually has some talent. Really. I like pretty much all styles of music, and his is some of the R&B that I appreciate.

So, it's a shame that he's such a supreme douche.

Well, I for one do sometimes like some of Kanye's work, he does rap well, but like one of you said on here that his personality kinda ruins it and it bugs people for sure, but we can't do anything that's the way Kanye is and nobody can do anything about that, Surely we wish something can be done, but he is who he is and if it bothers some so much then why even pay attention to him and get a head-ache or vice versa, if you do like him and like his personality then stick with him, it all depends on the fan and his views...I read just now on a news article that PJ rocked the house, can any of the people that went to Roo say the same? I'd sure like to hear how it went from a fellow fan...:)

I'm kinda over the fence here, those articles were a bit unclear if Kanye got pissed from PJ going over, so I don't know what to think, it was just a mishap, what happened happened and I guess it's all over now really....And an artist does whatever he thinks entertains the people, for some, they like to see flashing lights and cool effects and stuff and for others it turns them off, so it all depends on the person's taste....But hehe I for one would take a laid-back gig with sweet music than flashing lights and all, again, that's in my opinion....

This is hilarious. No matter what you think about Kanye's music, what he should have done in this situation is play the best show possible for as many fans as possible. Maybe there was a slight delay due to Pearl Jam's long set, but it sounds like he wasted at least an hour crying like a bitch backstage. If he was a real artist, he should be able to go out there without any glowsticks or spaceships or robots and let the music speak for itself. Sure bands like U2 have used elaborate stage sets, but they could also play the shit out of a small club. I don't think Kanye's ego would even fit inside a small club at this point.

The funny thing is, I was just reading Pearl Jam's 2003 tour rider on the smoking gun. They very specifically request that absolutely no glow sticks or glowing objects be sold during their concert!
*Does not include encore of Garden and Leash.
