Yeah, sorry, but the Eagles lost the high road once they signed Vick. Their silly Cowboys criminal jokes are just that at this point - silly. Every team in the league has their fair share.

The Cowboys have the toughest schedule I have seen in . . . maybe ever. Going to be brutal. Going to have to start strong against the Skins, Bears, Texans, Titans and Vikings (hopefully without Favre). The Jaguars and Lions are the only other mediocre to bad teams on the list. December has the potential to be ugly.

I call 11-5 and win the division. The offense is instantly improved with Bryant. I think the only real question mark is Doug Free and if he can take over for Flozell Adams. I was as tired of Adams as everyone else, but you forget how much he could dominate when he was on his game.

On the defense, everyone is back except Ken Hamlin and that shouldn't be a big deal. A little worried about Marcus Spears' knee injury and hope that doesn't linger. Otherwise they have done a good job keeping everyone together.

Once again, kicking is going to be the biggest issue. Can we trust David Buehler to make the big field goal with the game on the line?

I think the Eagles have a big unknown with Kolb. I don't know what their injury situation is like. The Giants lost some more players and Washington is Washington.

Don't be. Jason Hatcher was going to take Spears' job soon anyway. He and Bowen will benefit from this and become better players for us.

Also, I read somewhere that we have one of the strongest lineups in the league. The only injury that would be hard to overcome for us is Romo. Other than that, We are set up for a nice run this year.

    Go Cowboys!!

The thing that worries me most about this team is coaching and a possible Romo injury.

First of all...that schedule isn't that tough. washington twice, chicago, houston, tennessee, jacksonville, detroit, and arizona. that's 8 wins right there.

dallas is winning 11 games in their sleep this year.

as for the eagles fan nonsense. well, we have to talk shit. it's in our blood. as an eagles fan, I know the 2010 version is gonna be lucky to win 9 games. but we still have to poke the cowboy and giant fans. We aren't going away...reid has the eagles primed and ready to make another SB run. It won't be this year, but dont sleep on the birds. they could steal a playoff spot and make noise in the NFC.

the big man has made a seamless transition, not only with the QB, but the entire team. there is no rebuilding period

@ The Fixer - glad football season is here again because these Eagles and Cowboys threads can get rowdy. Its all good so trash away! We are all used to it after doing this for like 5 years.

Personally I think Reid makes a better GM than an in-game coach. I swear I read Eagles fans complaining that clock management or run-pass distribution cost them a game or two every year. He made the right decision to move on from McNabb. Maybe should have done it sooner.

And I wouldn't count both Washington games as wins. Something stupid always happens when the Cowboys and Redskins play. Rarely does the better team sweep.

I'm on the record as saying that mcnabb was the problem. lesser talented QBs (garcia, feeley, kolb) have proven that they can run a 2:00 offense in reid's system.

mcnabb was a great player, but he wasn't an ideal fit in reid's system. kolb isn't a physically gifted as mcnabb, but he is a better suited QB for the eagles offense.

I know about the skins-cowboys rivalry...but I think the skins are a 6 win team this year.

the cowboys are loaded...I'm just excited to see when dez bryant goes all TO and ruins this team

You sound really jealous that Dez slipped to us in the draft. You keep referencing him when he has nothing to do with us winning the Super Bowl this year.

Now get back over to that Eagles thread and listen to all the bs that "what's his name" feeds ya over there ;)

    Pre-season games suck.

Report is John Phillips has a torn ACL and if that is true he is done for the season. Bennett better step up this year.

What we learned about the Cowboys
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 8, 2010 11:33 PM ET
You can't draw too much from the first game of the preseason, but we're going to try anyway. Here's what we think we learned about the Cowboys during their 16-7 win on the opening night of fake football.

    1. Concern over the kicking game is here to stay. David Buehler hit 3-of-4 field goals, but his longest make was 34 yards. (And that was shaky.) Buehler missed a 49-yarder by an embarrassing margin. This won't quiet the talk that the Cowboys could bring in a veteran kicker just before the season.

    2. The injury to starting defensive end Marcus Spears could be a blessing in disguise. Stephen Bowen picked up a sack and another key hurry to end a drive. We also like Jason Hatcher as much as Spears.

    3. The left tackle "competition" may be over before it started. Doug Free looked strong in limited work, while backup Alex Barron gave up a sack and tweaked his ankle. The Cowboys starting unit barely played, but pushed Cincinnati around.

    4. Wideout Kevin Ogletree didn't help himself lock up a roster spot. Twice he gave away first downs because of a lack of attention to detail. (He didn't drag his foot on a catch, and he fell in front of the first down marker another time.)

    5. Tashard Choice reminded folks why he's the best third-string back in football. Seven rushes, 41 yards. Felix Jones reminded the Cowboys why Marion Barber often gets the ball near the goal, fumbling at the one-yard line. (The fumble didn't count because of a Bengals penalty.)

    6. Martellus Bennett should be worried about his backup tight end job. John Phillips caught four passes for 60 yards, although he left with a knee injury. So maybe Bennett shouldn't be too worried.

UPDATE: Bennett shouldn't worry. Reports say Phillips "likely" tore his ACL.

Traded Patrick Crayton. Anyone think that might have been a mistake? Sam Hurd is younger and has a smaller salary.

I think it was a huge mistake, I would have given San Diego Williams for nothing. Williams will be nothing more than a number 3 receiver in the NFL from now on, I would say by week 4 Dez is our number 2, barring injury of course. The thing with Crayton is you could trust him, I doubt Romo trust Williams. Either way the offense should be good and Romo has plenty of weapons to use. The big weak spots on this team lie at safety and the O line, field goal kicking ( which seems to be a constant concern) and of course the biggest concern of all is our inept coaching staff.

See, that's what I think. Crayton got a lot of shit over that dropped ball in the playoff against the Giants in 2007. You could argue it cost the Cowboys the game, but outside of that he has been very reliable and always seems to find a way to get open. Plus, Romo likes him and trusts him.

Hurd is OK I guess but I think we've seen all we need to see out of him. Crayton is better. But, Hurd is a lot younger and he is cheaper and that's why the decision was made. Plus Hurd is probably our best special team player that isn't a punter or kicker.

As much as we all want Roy Williams out of here, that is not going to happen. No one wants that contract in a trade and Jerry will never admit he made a mistake in trading for him in the first place.

I would take Crayton over Roy Williams any day.

Bryant, Austin, Crayton, Hurd, Ogletree > Williams, Bryant, Austin, Hurd, Ogletree.

Agree on the OL comments. That's going to make for an interesting year.

The heat is finally dissipating down here. Only 95 degrees today. Ready for some football!!
