I agree about Barron, hope Columbo is back next week.
I think we are really going enjoy Dez Bryant, how many games till he replaces Williams at number 2? I say 4 or less, but you never know with our coaching staff.

the loss sucks, BIG TIME, but the D was silly good today...I would guess that McNabb wouldn't want to see us anytime soon. oh well next week is a pretty big game for the team, and i think they can do it.
wow what a way to lose a game. the skins are better this year.
helluva an ending though.
question---how is michael irvin's number not retired?
Hey Jeags Vick or Kolb next week? Vick looked good and made a case to be the starter. Next week could be tough for you guys, Detroit looks much improved.

I don't think they retire numbers in Dallas, and I think Drew Pearson wore 88 as well.
This.
The Cowboys do not officially retire numbers. But, there is an unwritten policy. Meaning, you won't see anyone wearing 12, 8 or 22 again. Or at least any time soon.
The thing about Barron is that he was lazy on that play. It looked to me like he set up to run block (meaning he was moving forward which allowed the defender to get around him), rather than taking a few steps back for pass protection. Once he did that, it was over.
The sad thing is he didn't have to hold. All the had to do was push the guy for a second. Romo usually steps up and around the pass rush and that's what he did. Beautiful ruined by an idiot.
Takeaways from this game:
Weird shit always happens in Washington.
Miles Austin is scary good. At one point every catch he had was for a first down. He will have a monster season.
Romo was fine.
The defense was in mid-season form. Held them to zero TDs and were in McNabb's face all day, but then that is nothing new.
McNabb sucks. Washington's offense sucks.
The Cowboys need to send flowers and get well cards to Marc Columbo.
Why is Felix Jones on this team??? How can you have a weapon like that and only use him a couple of times. WTF???
Worst call of the season already happened, that ridiculous play just before the half. What the hell? Seriously? You are on the road, down by three. How hard is it to just kneel??

kolb looked horrendous but he is the starter. they gave him 12m in the offseason. he's gonna take his lumps this year. all he has to end up being is average with these weapons though. my main concern is that reid will ruin his growth by continuing to trot vick out there. it disrupts his rhythm. he also has to learn to handle pressure and get rid of the ball when he's in trouble. we have the best backup in the league though if he goes down for an extended period of time.

Whatever, 15 more to go.
Agree with you about Barron, his form was non existant on that play. Cut him immediately. We spent the past decade putting up with the most penalized lineman in the league, we don't need #2 now.
Penalties are still killing us.........lost momentum on a handful of drives just due to sloppy play (aka Bennet's block in the back)
After having processed this for a half day this is all I got. I really think teams are content to let the Cowboys move up and down the field on them, and just wait for Garrett to do something stupid (3 smoke screens in a row after we were moving the ball), or one of the players to committ a penalty (Witten was a hidden genius at this last year, but it was Bennett, Bryant, and Mr. Barron yesterday), and then miss a FG. Phillips is a genius D Coordinator, his players will go to war for him, but jesus fucking christ win already. Sorry that is all. Hopefully we win next week, and get some confidence moving forward.
This was the personification of the Wade Phillips era. Stupid mistakes, bad play calls, no sense of urgency, sloppy play, too many penalties, mental errors. Just fire him already Jerry.

Phillips has done a good job with the D, with the exception that they don't create turnovers, Garret is awful and the O is very plain and predictable. Last week game had so many mistakes, just terrible. The one that really came to my mind that is never talked about was the 3rd and 2 with 6 minutes or so to go and they tossed to Choice and he was dropped for a loss...2 problems here, if Barber is your number 1 back then he has to be in the game with only six minutes left, problem 2, if your going to try that play then use Jones, he is the fastest back and gives you the best chance on that play.

Do the Cowboys even use a game plan? If so, why not stick with it? They start off running the ball really well in the first quarter, then in the second they get away from it and go pass happy. The d in the first is blitz happy, then in the second we hardly see it till the last minute of the second. If they have a plan, it's an odd plan. To me, unless they are getting smoked Barber should get 20 carries and Jones 15 carries and 6-10 pass plays. I'd like to see more of Bryant as well.
They need to win today or they'll likely be 0-3 at the bye week.

Plenty of talent...poor coaching, game planning and far to many mistakes. These last few seasons has convinced me that they will/can not win consistently with Jones that involved in the team. He needs to turn the team over to his son and hire a GM, and sit in the press box and be quiet, but that will never happen. Look at Miami, not as much taent, but better coaching, the boys could have had that head coach.

"Life Is What Happens To You When Your Busy Making Other Plans" John Lennon
I think this one is on the players just as much as the coaches, if not more so. They just aren't that good. Outside of Ware and Jenkins, who are the playmakers on defense? Can anyone catch the ball other than Austin, and apparently Bryant? Losing Witten like that hurt, but come on! Buehler should not be the field goal kicker. Lots of mistakes on the OL.
I don't know, the Bears made plays and the Cowboys made mistakes. The interceptions were caused by tipped balls and great plays by the Bears. Cutler made some good throws (God knows why) and they just outplayed Dallas.
I've been on board with this running back by committee thing, but no longer. One of these guys needs to be traded. Its just too much. You can't get any kind of a rhythm going when you have to split touches between three talented backs.
I don't know. Maybe they turn it around, but right now, they aren't even close to being a playoff team.
I'll put the responsibility of a fiasco of a team on the owner's shoulder, he wants to run the team his way but really wtf, sorry I look around the league and see what well run teams do, for me it's not hard to see. This team is very talented, but poorly managed, poorly coached and poorly prepared. The only time this team under Jones has had any real success was when JJ was running the team and making the calls. Philips is a neutered head coach, if he had any balls he'd tell Jones that Austin and Bryant are my number 1 and 2 receivers, that Barber and Jones are my 1 and 2 backs and Choice will only see action when the game is decided, but most importantly he would tell Jones that Garrett sucks as a OC, who knows maybe he has but I doubt it.

I can't believe that you people are giving up in week 2. Gimme a break. There is a ton of football to be played and the Boys are just getting started! We will bounce back and go 1-2 before the bye. That might be enough to be tied for the division lead. The NFC East is crappy this year...
