I'm no Mexico fan but they've already had some terrible calls made against them. The goal called off for being offsides was ridiculous. Such is the way of FIFA officiating. There will always be favorites, especially the home teams.

    that offside call was ok

Are FIFA rules different than the rest of the world?? The South Africans had a defender on their goal line when the pass was made. How could that possibly be offside?

dude, the goalkeeper came out and that meant one player from Mexico was offside as the guy on the line effectively becomes the "goalkeeper" ... as soon as the Mexico guy touches it he's off as he is beyond the last man... it was not only a fair call, but a very very astute call. well done to the officials on that one.

Yeah, after watching the replay on my TV, I see that now. I'm an idiot. I'll save my bitching about refs for the US games. ;)

Edit: By the way, the British announcer on ESPN was calling it a terrible call. Kind of surprised he got it wrong.

    are you kidding?
once they switched to an american announcer for the champions league finals i was so pissed... the brits announce the game beautifully, but it might be hard to get used to without them creaming their pants everytime something happens

canadian stations tend to have canadian pre-games but use the british feed for commentating. i can't stand the over-zealous and hyper american commentators.

of course i was at work during this game so i don't know what the british ones did, but i mean in general the laid back commentating is sooo much better suited

not kidding at all. i'm used to american announcers. those 4 names i just dropped are some of the best american announcers. tommy smyth and jp are worldly recognized for their great announcing skills. tommy smyth is like a walking football dictionary.

to be honest i think 90+% of people watching it called it wrong... I did... it was only the replays that showed otherwise. I think the UK commentators even had a double take on that one. It was an excellent piece of refereeing.

If they had a proper striker they'd be at least 3 - 0 up. Greece are getting hockeyed. No imagination at all.
