I still don't buy that whole "they died when the plane crashed theory". I mean if that's what really happened, then how do you explain when the oceanic six got off the island? For that theory to work you would have to completely discredit a lot of what happened in seasons four and five. Unless, the entire planet was a purgatory of some sort.

    Gadzooks!

I stopped watching Lost after season 2. But I saw the finale of Ashes to Ashes yesterday, and it had the same lame theme of religious claptrap. It all turned out to be a purgatory of sorts.

Where are the writers who are creative enough NOT to take such an easy way out? Sounds like these 2 shows might as well have said, "And it was all a dream."

I agree. Everything on the island was real. People died at different times and once they all passed on they were able to leave the flash sideways. For all we know Kate and James lived another 30 years after they left. Also, Hugo tells Ben he "was" a great #2 and Ben also complements him on being #1. I interpreted it as they actually had a whole new chapter on the island in which they protected the light. Who knows how long Hugo was the protector.

Eloise clearly knew what the flash sideways was because she was trying to prevent Desmond because she feared she would lose her son again.

What I want to know is who the skeletons were in the light tunnel!

Overall, I really enjoyed the show and was satisfied with how they ended it.

Thats pretty much my take. If they had all died in the plane crash, Ben, Desmond and Penny wouldn't belong at the final gathering.
They all died at some point, and met together in this sideways limbo world, and only when they were able to "let go", and accept their deaths, Jack being the last to let go.

But they left so many damn questions unresolved that I'm still a little bothered. The finale was good, well acted, very good work at each point when a couple sees the light so to speak and remembers each other, especially Charlie and Claire. But they just left too many island "mysteries" with absolutely no hint of explanation.

well entertaining but a bit of a let down
    battle between black and white?
    thats it?

No devil horns or fireballs? I dunno kinda convenient how they wrapped that whole thing up.

Although I like the premise and conclusion... I think it is terrible that they spent so much time "developing" the sideways world in the last season. All the pointless drama, gunfights, etc... That should have been spent on the Island further concluding the story there. There has been some great episodes dealing with the Island this season.... more time would have really made it a stronger finish. Not knowing why the monster wanted to get off the Island or what would happen really took away the urgency of the final showdown. Scare the audience a little.

I dont mind that all the loose ends arent tied up. It seems as though no character in the series ever knew the complete story. I really like how it was passed on and Hurley/Ben likely had a few lifetimes of defending the Island.

I would say it is a strong ending to a great series. Like I said though, I think it was unnecessary dedicating so much material to the "sideways" world.

After the Sopranos debacle, I would have accepted almost anything though.

I don't think I have the strength to watch TV after LOST. LOST changed my life and I don't think a show in the future can even top it. There will never be a show like LOST ever again.

I loved how in the last episode Hurley said, "Glad it wasn't me" and then in the finale he becomes the protector of the island.

I wish they would put things like this as easter eggs on the dvd and blu-ray releases.

i still don't understand what happened when they set the bomb off. was everything that happened after that still real? even though it started the sideways universe where they were dead and just waiting for everyone else to die?

Christian told Jack that "everybody dies, some before you, some after you." The church (which had symbols of many different faiths) and the sideways world was "the place you created so you could all be together." I think the reason Ben didn't go inside yet was he was going to wait for Alex.

Mixed in with a spin off Hospital show with Jack and Juliet.

Don’t forget anna lucia in the cop show.
