I checked out betterbidding.com for the first time. I read many hotels have a "priceline room". Does anyone know how to avoid these?

I don't think I noticed these in NA, but heard it might be more common in Europe. Do you sweet talk the lady at reception, say you're afraid of heights...?

The whole "Priceline room" thing is blown out of proportion. The only time I have ever received a room that would fit in to that category is about 7 years ago in Chicago - we got a TINY room that was way off in the corner and as luck would have it, we had 3 people to a room on that trip.

I have used Priceline about 100 times over the past 7 or 8 years and I have no complaints. Even the above situation, if there weren't 3 of us in the room it wouldn't have been a big deal and Priceline clearly stipulates that rooms are TWO PERSON ROOMS.

I do find that you often get the room right beside the elevator and you very rarely get the rooms with the good view, but other than that, you typically get a nice room in a nice hotel.

i've used the name your own price 4 times in teh last year. all the rooms were decent excet for the Philly Crowne Plaza which was by the elevator and tiny as could be. but i also requested a room on teh highest floor possible, so that might have been the reason.

Good to hear..same with Europe too I assume (since you used priceline there)? I've used it quite a bit over the year too. Never had a problem. Sure some rooms might have had a bad shower or whatever, but that could have been all rooms. I read some views on that website (bidding.com or whatever) and would hate to run into that. Some people say their room was horrible and when they asked to be moved they got in a fight with the staff. I'm guessing it's how they approached them. I never had a fight with reception ;)

We got the Omni Parker House for 110/night too for the 17th - 19th. We stayed here on 3/6 for the Muse concert (for 70/night!), not too far of a walk to the Garden and it's a very nice hotel. Just an FYI there's a parking garage around the corner for $18/night.

Any concern that the 2nd show might not happen in Boston? ;)

    SHUT YO' MOUTH!!

No biggie if it doesn't happen, that's when plan B goes into effect and we just spend the day doing a Duck tour, going to Quincy Market, check out the museum, go to lunch at the Union Oyster House, go to that huge Borders around the corner from the Omni (my husband is real psyched about that one...but little does he know it's happening whether they play or not...I will get to that store  ) and move our lunch reservation at PF Changs to dinner then go hit some of the bars. It's all good!

  • When bidding for the Adams Mark in Buffalo on Priceline, what section of Buffalo are you choosing? I'm assuming Downtown Buffalo? And did you just go right in at $60 for 3 star, or did you start high and move down?
  • Nevermind, just put in for $60 at 3 star and got the Adams Mark. Everything is coming together. How many 10 clubbers are staying here?

I doubt it. For some reason there are still a lot of people not using this thread. Thanks though, it's great.

    Noblesville:

i forget which day it was, Friday?, the elevator would just come and go as it pleased. you didn't know where it was going to stop once you got on.

the bartenders were a bit shady as well. thursday night, somebody sent a drink back because the glass had lipstick on it. bartender dumps the drink into a new glass and sends it back out. I had the sheppeards pie that night. My bowels are still curing at me. only night i hit the elephant bar.

Priceline won't give me anything near the garden for less than $110.00, I don't get it. They even advertise that another customer got what I want for $85.00, but won't give it to me when I try to book it?
