As I mentioned in an earlier post regarding Gitmo, unfortunately there ARE some innocent detainees who need processed and freed. Your reuters story about the canadian I'm sure is true. But don't pretend that the U.S. is the ONLY country that makes these mistakes. Hell there's probably innocent people incarcerated in every U.S. state.
Under the 8 years of Clinton the U.S. military was gashed with budget cuts yet still was full of waste and was ineffecient in some key areas. I'm sure Rumsfeld was shocked when he looked at the records of the spending habits of the Armed Forces. But it's kinda hard to get leaner after only your second attack on U.S. in 50 years.
America doesn't run, and some how that pisses off most spineless liberals.

Again, I will try to educate you a bit. We COULD keep back soybean seed, but Monsanto's patent laws don't allow that...there in-lies some of the growers distain for them.
But as for corn, hybrid corn yields anywhere from 150-225 bushels per acre. IF we kept back the corn grain as SEED (and it would reproduce) we would see yields drop to 50 bushels per acre. U.S. agriculture could NOT supply the world's demand for protien at the those yield levels.
But I guess Pepe if you want your cost of food to quadripple, we'll regress 60+ years in science.
But until that time, you keep on keepin on, and let the experts, U.S. farmers, continue to provide the World with the SAFEST supply of meat and grain modern man has ever known.

Soulsinging I was about to rip you until I looked at your profile only to see you are Only 27. Then it occurred to me while I was taking in my first Pearl Jam show in 1994, YOU probably Were having bed-wetting issues.
And since re-joining this fine fan club in 2000, I have only recently jumped into this fine message board upon the release of Backspacer.

seriously, comparing fandom and listing shows you attended is just juvenile and is usually reserved for fanboys on the porch. listing your shows you have been to is kind of like comparing dick size, but in the end nobody really gives a shit about either of those two things.

if being a grandson of a WW2 vet and being from indiana are the only two things you are proud of then you have not experienced very much.

Americans have a lot to be proud of... why so many unfortunately rave about preaching liberty and freedom to the rest of the world will never cease to amaze me... it should just be accepted, if nothing else, that war is waged, perhaps out of necessity, and that places like Gitmo will follow (and really every country that;s invaded by foreign soldiers is a Gitmo; Gitmo proper just happens to have the benefit of media hype at least)... but saying that that shit's being done in the name of freedom etc is what MOST angers fuckers all over the world... to an extent, leaders of most nations do the same as well as rebel/ Islamic militant groups ... but not to the same, crazy, fucked up degree... it so needs to be realized that war is never something to rave about or be proud of... if those close to you have fought in wars, the last thing to be done is to treat them like fuckin trophies... i've had a very close family member fight in a war against India, and i just pray God has fuckin mercy on him... how people can just tell themselves, apparently quite easily and only too often, that all their respective enemies are in some way "evil" or hardly fuckin human, and that they themselves are not the same, so fuck em up and be proud of it, is beyond me... Sad world we live in

I knew better than to reason with any of you libs.
My point about Ed enjoying talking politics is that we all don't have to agree but a discussion and dialog can be good. I used to debate a buddy of mine, but we spin ourselves back to the same basic fundamental diffrences.
One man's mind sharpens another man's like metal to metal, sword to sword...bet none of you even get that refernce and the "Source."
The 2 things I referenced were in "defense" the cheap shot from soulsinging who wrote:

I feel no need to defend Who I Am and What I am to some one who has seen the world 11 years less than I have. My point about the shows I've seen was that I was into Pearl Jam while this guy was 12.
So I HAVE seen plenty...and I ask myself as I write this and I'm thinking, "Why the hell do I give fuck what people I have never met and have NO idea who I am or What I am really like?"
Just like I'm tired of defending who I am, I don't think we need to pander all our critics all over the world.
The U.S. can't be run by a suggestion box or opinion polls like Clinton's did.
Doing the Right Thing is Not always the Popular thing. That's what libs and socialist (same thing these days) do Not seem to have the abilty to wrap their brains around.
Pepe your comment about "The Greatest Generation" makes my skin crawl. If you are living in the U.S., let me offer to buy your plane ticket straight the hell outta here. Your lack of appreciation of sacrifices made by previous generations is exactly what is weakening this Country, day by day, hour by hour. Makes me literally sick in the pit of my stomach.

lastly, i really doubt that people's lack of appreciation for what our grandparents have done is weakening this country hour by hour, day by day...this can never be proven and is the same thing i heard fat rush say last week. there is no evidence of that. besides weakness and strength in the sense you are referring to is subjective in nature.

I hear ya, I can't get my daughter an H1N1 vaccination but I heard the prisoners at Gitmo are all getting them. Not sure if it's true or not but thats what I heard on the radio.

The Known Terrorist that are confined at Gitmo are the same people Recruiting the suicide bombers, Training young people how to fire an AK-47 at the innocent. Many of the detainees were on CIA and FBI "whatch lists" that were basically "observed" during the weak Clinton administration.
If you want to sit back and take unfounded ignorant cheap shots at the US from the confort of your peaceful home-town, then that is your choice. Or, you could ask the newly liberated Iraqi people what they think of their recently new found freedoms.
Also, maybe travel to New York City and ask the survivors and family members of those lost on 9/11 what Their Opinion of closing GITMO would be. You think their response would be: "Sure, show compassion upon those whom helped plan gruesome attacks on the innocent. Hell let all move to NYC so they can be our neighbors!"
Better yet, let's ship these fine detainees to Poland, South England and Canada.
Hell even France "volunteered" to take ONE prisoner! How brave of Frenchie...but what else would you expect?
