I took so many pictures of last nights show, I had to use two lithium batteries and two different memory cards. I have to actually make room on my computer's c drive before importing all 500 pictures on to it.

  • What an amazing show. I was truly the most "fortunate" SOB on the planet yesterday.
My favorites were Brain of J and the jam sessions during rearview mirror and betterman. Parachutes and Little wing were nice treats as well.
The energy was phenomenal from start to finish with lots of crowd pleasers. You could tell the band was having a great time and simply enjoying themselves. I love how they do everything they can to make every member of the audience feel like part of the show.
If anyone happened to find a small blue canon camera with some incredible pics from last night and LA4 please pm me. I think I lost in in the parking lot below the parking structure. Sucks I don't have the pics to show everyone but at least I've got the memories!
Thanks Pearl Jam for two insanely awesome shows!

  • WOW!!! This was a great show. First time to see them in San Diego, although I did buy the boots and listened to them for many years. It was refreshing to actually be there, so when I buy this boot, I will have an even bigger smile on my face when I listen back.
The show started off with Ben and I have to tell you, when Ben played the sound was shitty. When Ed came out to sign Pressure I could hardly hear Ed's voice, so much echo and distortion. I looked over to my new PJ friend from San Diego, "Rocko" (it was nice to meet you and your girlfriend) and asked him if noticed the same. He agreed with me as we both attended the LA show (Gibson Theather) he was at nights 3 and 4 and I was at night 2. We both were blown away at how nice the sound was and that we both felt that Ed's voice sounded fresh and bold. Flash to San Diego and when the show began we just were shaking our heads, the sound was horrible. After Ben's set, we both talked about the sound. It wasn't long before the sound gal was out and she was trouble shooting the sound on all of the mics. Rocko and I looked at each other and began to feel better, saying things like, "See she's fixing it" and "Oh...that sound better." So we felt pretty good. Show began, and it was better, but still had some echo. After about the first 2 or 3 tunes, it was dead on!
Great Show. If you are a collector of boots, you have got to buy this one. Ed talks a lot about himself. This was also my wife's first PJ show. She is not a fan! I know! Grounds for a divorce, right?!?! Well...she went with me to SD to se the fellas for the first time. Needless to say, she enjoyed the show, but she still said, "I still don't dig the music, but I liked some of the songs, and I now know why you and the other fans love PJ, there is a connection there that I didn't know about. I can see how Ed cares about the fans, he certainly connected with the crowd and the crown sure gave it back, that was cool." So....from her point of view, she thought the show was good. She never saw a crowd get so into the show before. (Well, to tell you the truth, (whisper in your ear, move a bit closer so she can't hear me, She likes bands like Bon Jovi....shhh.) So again, she never gets to see crown interaction like we do at every PJ show.
My number is 242XXX and I was in section F on Stone's side, seats were good, Thanks 10C. Better seats at LA but hey at least I wasn't on the floor in the back! Lot's of pot smokers, as a result, I got a contact high :D Loved the birthday story of LULU and the 1 and a half day old baby in the rain in Seattle. LuLu is now 16 - HB LuLu again! I won't belabor you all with the set list as you have seen that. Great show once again!
Note...and this might cause some flac, but I have to note this observation. During the show, I never once saw Ed speak to Stone, go stand by stone and rock out, it was odd. After the encores when everyone was giving hugs like Boom, Ed, Matt, there was Stone to the side and no hug from Ed, no even a pat. He walked by him as if he wasn't there. To me...it looked like Ed was pissed off at Stone. He was getting the "Stone" cold shoulder. Then, after the show...Ed said something like, "this is the last time here for a while, so...enjoy." I looked over to Rocko, the guy from the LA shows 3, 4 and he said Ed made the same comment on the 4th night in LA too. So...this got me to thinking, which is not a good thing if you know me. Is there something going on with Stone? Is he the reason why they may be taking a break, a long break according to but based off my interpretations of Ed's comments, have something to do with Stone? Or...the fact that there are rumors of a Soundgarden reunion, and Matt will join them on their tour soon, have something to do with the long break?
But...still, the Stone and Ed thing, did anyone else notice this other than my new PJ friend, wife and Rocko's girlfriend see this too? Hmmm. :?
Despite this, this was one fucking great show!!! Better than the LA forum shows in 2006 and the San Francisco Shows 2006 too!

First off, I "gotta say it now, better loud, than too late..." - that this show made me ache, and made me shake! :)
Thank you 10 Club for the excellent seats - Sec R - 8th row...
Thank you Wishlist Foundation for an awesome get together at McGregors - so many cool people and awesome raffles (my buddy came from Texas with his buddy from Nebraska - along with a few other buddies in SD (8 of us in total)- we all won something!!!)
Thank you to the killer dude from Sessions who knew I was a Jeff fanatic and gave me the setlist Jeff gave him!!! Jeff is one of his friends and was thrilled to see our row rock out all night and come from AZ to show our love...
Thank you Pearl Jam for blowing the roof off of the arena and more importantly for loving what you do (and each other) - it showed in every note, gesture, and fan interaction - you guys are a special band to so many - hope you felt the love in that building last night...
    On to the show:
Under Pressure w/ Ben (during Ben's set - 2nd song!) was magnificent and just made me that much more amped for the "main event"...
Last Exit opener set the tone...Brain of J was sick...the new tunes translated live amazingly (bummed no Just Breathe - but not complaining :))...Parachutes, I Got Shit, You Are and Force of Nature were surreal...The End solo was better than the record - the 2nd encore was just non-stop - Black, Little Wing and So You Wanna Be A Rock n Roll Star ALONE make this a must buy boot - seriously...and such a fan love-a-thon - what a fantastic friggin' show...over a dozen shows for me - and this one is near the top...
Great friends, great arena, great show, great gift (setlist), great poster and great experience. I am so proud to be a fan, so fortunate to grow with this band and so in love with the mighty Pearl Jam...
Philly - bring your seatbelts and extreme suntan lotion - 'cause your faces will be melted off!!!
Again, thanks to all the fans and the band for an experience that even amnesia can never erase!
Peace and long spread the Jam...

Great to see Jeff bringing back the bandana!!! 8-)

Ha! It's funny you say that. As soon as I noticed that, I turned to my show buddy and said "Look, it's the 1991-Jeff!" :D

    RIDICULOUSLY UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING AMAZING!!

Everything was perfect. This was my 5th PJ show, and very possibly the best yet. Unthought Known, Black, Do The Evolution and Alive were definitely the highlights for me. It was also awesome, Mike yelling out "how do you like this shit?!" to Ed's old guitar teacher.

One of my friends with me had never seen PJ live or even heard a single PJ song. Yes...a COMPLETE PEARL JAM VIRGIN.We drove from Phoenix to San Diego, about a 6 hour trip. I built up the experience along the way by saying that feeling the energy from PJ and the crowd is like "the souls of everyone in the packed house transcending out of their bodies and then flying around in the rafters high-fiving each other".

Needless to say...My previous PJ virgin friend walked out of that arena in shock. He realized my imagery was actually right.

I had a bet with the people around me who I never met before, which song would be played first. I was thinking in my tree, but then changed my vote to corduroy. fuck yea I won. Corduroy was played second (not the first song of the concert, but before any of the others' votes)

Thank you pearl jam. I'm having withdrawal symptoms already.

awesome show!! heard them sound check parachutes while picking up tickets...as with the la shows, the band is on...so although reading the setlist you might think the show wasn't great but they fucking rocked!!...bringing out the crew members daughter and singing happy birthday to her was fun...matt's drum teacher and ed's guitar teacher playing on little wing was cool...ed told a story about when he was pumping gas, he asked his boss if he could get a mohawk since he was in band and wanted to be a punk rocker...he promised his boss he would wear a hat....then they play so you want to be a rock and roll star

great show all around and a great end to an amazing 5 shows!!

Really good concert. My wife and I had a great time....just that it was hard for me to like this show more than LA night 4. I still had a great time and when Eddie told the story about LuLu and we all sang happy bday to her the night just got better and better. I love how Eddie always tries his best to make the crowd behind the stage feel good. The crowd was amazing singing and just being fun!
Highlights for me: The fixer and Got some are freakn awesome live
    Ed's story telling
    Lu Lu 16th bday
Eds guitar teacher and Matts drum teacher playing with the band
Parachutes (even though he messed up the lines) He said he would :D

The Pearl Jam Night of My Life... WOW... Front Row.. DEAD CENTER!

I hit the lottery last night and score SECTION AAA ROW 1 Seats 23 and 24. I still can't believe it. I took my wonderful girlfriend who has never seen pearl jam besides Ed solo in Maui. We were on top of the world.

I could go on and on but I'll tell just one quick story. ED ASKED ME TO HELP HIM REMEMBER THE PARACHUTE LYRICS! Ha.. I couldn't believe it. We were right in front of him and he points right at me when he was introducing the song and said YOU gotta help me remeber the lyrics. OK... here we go. So we're singing the song and Ed starts locking on me and I'm mouthing them as clearly as I can... but then we get to where it gets a little foggy for me... and Ed aparantly and he lost it. We both started laughing and he moved on in perfect Ed fashion.

Anyhow... it was a moment that I'll never forget.

I apologized to him after the song and we graciously laughed at each other. One song later Ed stepped forward and tossed me a pick. I was elated. At the end of the show Ed caught my attention again and shot me another pick to give to my girlfriend. Ed is so rad.

It was SO SO GREAT. I've been so die hard for so long for this to have happened felt incredible. I felt like I won the lottery.

Anyhow... here is link to the vid. Its pretty funny in the middle when he screws up... he blames me. I'll take the blame.

100x Thank you to PJ and Ed.

Thank you pearl jam. I'm having withdrawal symptoms already.

I agree with you 100%. Last nights show was amazing. I can't begin to describe i, but I will try (this might be REALLY long!)

For starters I was at the last two LA shows which were my first and they were great, but the San Diego show was as good as both of those combined.

I actually had great seats for the LA venue and wasn't expecting too much for the bigger San Diego show. The ten club seats that I got weren't bad, but as I was waiting for the person I was giving my extra ticket too I heard someone at the box office getting front row on Mike's side, so I figured I should go and try my luck. Sure enough after a brief scare, a single ticket was open, but then was gone. I was able to score a section AAA row 5 seat on Mike's side!!!

I already knew the show was going to be awesome, but after that I was just in shock! I was then able to pick up the amazing poster and the Padres themed shirt so I was ready. Soundcheck was cool to hear as they played one of my favorites You Are (more on that later).

I would like to thank Mary Ann a fellow Phoenix area fan who I met at McGregors and gave me a ride over to the box office to pick up our tickets, she also was hooked up with similar incredible seats.

I was very glad to make it to the pre-party and hang out with a ton of fellow Pearl Jam followers. I went to the shows by myself which was great because it allowed me to meet some really, really great fellow fans. (Eric, Patrick, Raivo, Mary Ann, Mason and many others whose names I may not remember never got).

On to the actual show itself, unfortunately I was walking and riding the trolley around so by the time I ate and got to the venue and sold my extra 10C ticket I had missed the beginning of the set when Eddie came out and sang Under Pressure with Ben Harper, that would have been awesome to see!

I walked down to my seat and could not get over how fortunate I was to be sitting at such an amazing spot on Mike's side no less!!

I was going into the show REALLY wanting to hear Severed Hand and Go. I also was hoping for In Hiding and Down. I figured there was no way I would get them all.

    1. Last Exit: A song that I have always really liked, but after hearing them open with it it has been stuck in my head all the way home. It was such a hard rocking GREAT way to get the show started.
    2. Corduroy: To go from Last Exit into another Vitalogy track was awesome! It was so rocking and sounded better than it did during LA 3. One of my favorites so what an amazing job they did on this one.
    3. Severed Hand: At first note I knew I was getting one of my four that I so desperately wanted. I love the guitar work in the song and they just NAILED it! I was so happy to hear this and await the boot for this song alone.
    4. Brain of J.: a song that just doesn't played enough IMO. I just noticed that they only played in Toronto this tour so that makes me even more excited to have heard it. Such an awesome rocking song. One of the MANY pleasant surprises in this set.
    5. Small Town: hearing the crowd screaming "HELLO!!!" is so cool, glad I got to hear it twice.
    6. Amongst the Waves: one of many amazing songs off of the new record it sounds so great live and Mike's guitar work on the live version just is awesome.
    7. Johnny Guitar: my unsung fave on the album. It is my most played song from the album and again just a great vibe to it.
    8. Even Flow: to all those who want them to shelve this song, screw you all! :D Just being able to hear Mike's guitar solo makes spending 70 bucks a ticket worth it, it was sickening how he shreds that song!
    9. Unthought Known: seems to be one of the best songs on the new album to be heard live: Already fans and Eddie scream "with gems and rhinestones" which is great to hear! Played at all three of the shows I saw.
    10. Parachutes: Another highlight of the show, he said he was going to F up the lyrics and asked for help (he did mess up), but hearing this song live was sweet, especially since they didn't play it at all in 2008.
    11. Daughter: For me this was the first song that was played that I am not absolutely in love with. It is a great and is special hearing it live with the tag.
    12. I Got Id: I know why it is a favorite for so many. What a fabulous song live!!! Glad I was able to hear it, since it also doesn't get played too much.
    13. You Are: Probably my number two song highlight of the night after Severed Hand. This is my favorite song from Riot Act and when they started playing it I couldn't for the life of me figure out the name of it, I just knew I love it. After I finally realized what it was they were in it. The ending guitar solos for the song were AWESOME. This will be the highlight of the boot for me for sure. The song was 100 times better than I ever could have imagined!!!
    14. Force of Nature: after not playing it pre-LA it is finally getting the plays it deserves. Yet another stellar track from the new album.
    15. Got Some: This is a song they are playing every show this tour and I see why. it is such a high energy rocker and is SO much fun to sing live, here's to playing this for years to come.
    16. Do the Evolution: hands down one of the greatest PJ songs to hear live. From the unison Hallelujah's to the screaming It's Evolution BABY!!!! This songs rocks so hard!!!!
    17. RVM: When they played this song in LA the bridge in the center was UNBELIEVABLE, so I knew it would be again, unfortunately I was dying of thirst, so I had to leave to get a beverage, thankfully there was no line and I was back before the solo ended!

WHEW!!!!!! An encore break!! Much needed, I could not believe that they could have played 17 straight songs that I absolutely love. I was speechless. How could this night really get any better?? I will finish my show review tomorrow, there is plenty to read here. I need to catch up on some sleep tonight after the long drive today.
